Conferences are next week, report cards are due on Monday. I decided to take last weekend and have no life. It worked. I finished all report cards and conference prep, not to mention prep for the classroom next week. Now I can have a totally relaxing, care-free weekend. Except that we're going to my Dad's on Thanksgiving night for dessert and nobody knows if Mom is going to show up or not. She's told us all different things about her plans. In one scenario, she stays as the place she is living at now watching football. In another scenario, she's going to my Dad's house to see Randi, but doesn't plan on being there when we get there. In still another scenario, she is going to my brother's. I'm kind of tired of the shenanaigans and don't plan on discussing it further. The end.
A student gave me a little tin of English toffee yesterday. Yum. It was most delicious. Also, I had a very healthy literature discussion with some teachers at work about the works of Jane Austen at lunch the other day. It was very illuminating to talk about things other than the classroom. Kevin is still looking for jobs. He's gotten a few calls about some things, but after questioning them further knows he will not like working there. Plus two were across the state in the middle of nowhere where I wouldn't be able to work. I really hope something comes along for him soon. Not just for financial reasons (though that would be helpful!) but also because he's going stir crazy!!
I'm baking rolls today for Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. I think I might make some sugar cookies too. Little pumpkin and turkey ones.
