Fifth Night [Voice/Action]

[...Okay.  For a fact, those robots cannot be stopped.  Yet.   While standing guard and speaking with Detective Kiyone in the tunnels regarding the prisoners several days ago, the Malnosso's robotic abductors broke into the prison where Naoya and Dilandau were being held.  Batman and Kiyone put up a fight against the machines, but were ultimately ( Read more... )

[Not long after Bats runs into John, Clark will be sitting down at the table with his own breakfast. He's got his journal set to the side, open, but with the voice optioned turned off, and is flipping through it at a fairly brisk rate.

The current pot of coffee is all his doing.]

[...It's good coffee. Not that Bats will admit to it.]

Starting in early as always.

[That's fine, he already knows it. Nobody makes better coffee than newspaper reporters, they need it to live.]

If I wasn't, you'd know something was wrong. [He gives Bruce a grin.] Of course, I could say the same of you. Just another part of our line of work.

[Batman nods at that. Though his voice turns back to serious business. Can't avoid it with this guy.]

Still no luck in finding them.

[Clark sets down his cup of coffee, his own face sliding into serious mode as well.]

And the person who helped Dilandau escape?

No luck. The only thing I got from the audio recording in the journal was the voice of a woman. Presumably, someone Dilandau knew well.

...There's one individual I can think of who might have a lead. I intend to find him today.

A woman? So most likely not one of the people we know to be a threat. [He mentally goes through the list as he says that, trying to pinpoint female possibilities. There aren't many.]

There is? [He lifts an eyebrow.] Can you tell me his name?

Not yet. I need to make sure my conclusions are correct first.

[That gets a disappointed frown, but hey, it's Bruce. And he does have a point.] Right, I understand. Just let me know if you find out anything we can use.

... Anything else you want to let me know about?

...We're going to need to recruit guards for the prison if we intend to seriously use it again.

That's not entirely surprising. Do you have any ideas? Maybe someone from the organizations we have here?

Most of them lack the discipline required. The other problem is the nullification effects of the tunnel. I'm not affected by it, but most of the other individuals who would volunteer would be.

...I have a handful of ideas. But I'll need some time to verify if they're good ones.

I'll check and see if I can round up any good prospects. We can compare notes later.

Sounds good.

[Clark should know exactly what to look for. He's not too worried about it.]
