Credit where credit is due

The first production night at the school paper was tonight. More detailed write-up to come. I want to direct everyone to the lovely flash package our assistant art director helped me create. It takes a while to load because we didn't compress it enough, but I am in love with Flash now.

Ironically enough, our editor in chief wrote an intro-to-the-new-staff piece describing the goals for the paper this year as to incorporate more multimedia and think web first. He goes on to explain how every section editor (by name) is thinking this way.

Me, the webmaster and multimedia editor? I'm just referenced as "the multimedia department." I've been fighting for equal footing as an editor since last semester, and I finally thought I was making headway. But no, let's not mention the ACTUAL EDITOR whose JOB it is to MANAGE THE MULTIMEDIA YOU ARE TOUTING. *headdesk*

EDIT: I decided that, dammit, I'm the multimedia editor for a reason, so I changed the wording in the online article to include myself. A lesson to be learned by all those of you who would slight your webmaster! Hee!

On a happy note, lifeguard recertification went well. The water was SO much warmer than I've ever felt it, and I only got cold a little towards the end. We were in the water for four hours. I forgot sunscreen. I am now red red redredred. My poor fair cancer-susceptible skin. But I'm set for another three years!
