Just wanted to say that I <3 all your animations & moodthemes!
=D
They're freaking awesome and you should be proud of them!

Oh and I was wondering where do you get your screencaps and what program do you use to make your GIFs?

I'm stuck using lowly Animation Shop 3 and the anims it churns out pale extremely in comparison to yours!

:lolz:

Thank you :D
I make my own screencaps. But I don't really use screencaps to make animated stuffs. I cut out the wanted scene into small clip then I open it in Photoshop CS3 to make animation.

I'm not sure about other programs but I think Photoshop CS3 (or older versions + ImageReady) is better at making animations as you could color it better (a few programs I tried don't even allow you to color the images). If you don't use Photoshop and your program don't allow coloring, and you're familiar with video editing (like adobe premier or sony vegas), you could do the coloring in video cutting process although it wont be as flexible as Photoshop.

If you wanna read a bit more about it, try here, I talked a bit with someone about my animation making. :)

wow thanks =D

but sadly it'll take both kidneys and a good half of an arm and a leg for me to be able to afford Photoshop CS3 **pouts**

ahh well!
I'll survive!
:lolz:

thanks for all your help!
do you mind if I friend you?

ah, might I ask what program you're using to make graphic? Like I said, there are other options to coloring. You could color video with video editing programs or you could turn the clip into series of images and batch coloring those images on your graphic program then use those to make animation. At the very least, a simple curve or level would help improve animation quite a lot compare to just using screencaps as is.

Not at all, feel free to friend me if you don't mind my random spamming. :D

I do actually!
I used VirtualDubMod to cut out the scene I want to make into an animation
but when I drag/import it into CS3 it comes up blank?
like it's there but the picture's white?

How did you export the clip in VDub (which compression)? Try "Uncompressed RGB", "Intel 4:2:0 Video V2.50" or "Microsoft Video 1". If all fail then you'd have to experiment a bit to see which format your CS3 can import and use the one with best quality. Apparently different systems will not import the same or something @.@
I could import Uncompressed RGB fine but I can't import DIVX while the other person I was talking with about making animations could import DIVX but not Uncompressed RGB. @.@

I did something called direct stream copy?

Reply

cowboyhd August 26 2008, 03:22:03 UTC
yah you'd need to select "video->full processing mode" then go to "video->compression" and try those I mentioned.
Of course Uncompressed RGB is the best but the filesize will be huge. If you need to keep the cut clips then you could try others but the ones with good quality would still be some what large.
Another option, if you need to keep the small clips, would be to direct stream copy cut it into clips for keepsake. Then when you need to make animations you could just drop it in Vdub and just output it into Uncompressed, no need to re-cut them again.

okay I tried that Uncompressed RGB and it worked =D
so how do I change the speed of the animation?
and the colour and such?
Cuz since I use PSP9 I have no clue how do anything in PS

=(
If I'm bugging you with my queries just give the word lol

Thanks =D

is there any way to change the speed of all the frames?
or do you have to do it individually?

Reply

cowboyhd August 26 2008, 04:11:02 UTC
just select all of the frames or the frames you need to change. When you change the time by clicking on the time (any frame will do), all the frames will be changed (the blue highlighted ones)

Kk

lol you're right it can be a little overwhelming! =)

so how do you select all the frames at once?
The only way I can see it pressing ctrl and clicking them individually
but there are over 175 frames and it would be rather tedious work
is there a faster way?

You can use "shift" thingy. Click first frame then hold shift key then go click the last frame or just open that menu in animation window and select "select all frames". But in case you want to just change time of the first half or just some portion, then you'd need to do the "shift" key.
