Summary: The obituary of Tyler F. Mallory
Tyler Frank Mallory, straight A student, star athlete, beloved friend and son, died on July 19. He was 20 years old.
Parents Howard and Elizabeth Mallory confirmed the death.
Mallory had recently completed his sophomore year at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. As an Accounting Major, he was often at the top of his classes. He was known to tutor other students and would often lead study groups. Friends describe him as a caring, passionate person, a natural born leader who was always willing to pitch in. He an active member of his fraternity, the Entrepreneurship Club, and the Undergraduate Student Government.
He played as a Forward for the Minutemen men’s basketball team and helped lead the team to their conference title in the 2013 season.
Mallory drowned while on vacation with his family in Cape Cod, even though he was known to be a strong swimmer. Officials are still confirming reports of a strong rip tide in the area.
Mallory is survived by his parents and younger siblings, Luke, 17, and Ashley, 15.
