[Apparently the painkiller half wears off before the the sedative half, because he seems like he's in at least a decent semblance of pain, now, breaths shallow and punctuated by soft cries of pain and softer whimpers, body jerking and squirming away from the needle's tip, but slowly, weakly, only really making things worse, rather than really stopping it from happening.]
