A Plethora of Put-Off LJ Entries! Best Bands & Bread Boy

May 27, 2006 01:28

This be my 100th entry. Enjoy.

I got a job at Panera Bread! Shortly after, I googled "Pantera Bread" to see if anyone had photoshop'd a picture; sure enough, I wasn't the first to make the connection. Sweet.

Today was Andrea's 18th birthday, so now she's legally allowed to do a bunch of stuff she better not do. Ah, coming of age. We went out to Mongolian Barbeque for dinner with her family, and then bowled afterward with Ashley and Ben. I was served. Needed to cast more Grants on the ball or something, lol... God I miss high school sometimes.

My Runescape reign continues. I wish I had more real-life friends who played members.

My Parks 'n Rec. work has started, which means sooner than later I'll be pushing 40+ hour work weeks. Can't wait for double paychecks. Andrea, my car, and my music collection are all direct beneficiaries, as well as the "Getting a Place of My Own" fund for next summer.

I picked up "We Don't Need to Whisper" day of release along with a new set of Philips headphones for Zebra, and it is nothing short of breathtaking. The casual transcendentalism Tom puts forth in his lyrics, the awakening "embrace life" vibe throughout the album, completely unique yet melodic tracks, all with potential to be singles, just everything about this album is so new and fresh and apart from anything I've heard in so long that it sets this band WAY apart from anything Blink or BCR ever accomplished. Which brings me to my next point, the followup to last October's "Top 10 Bands of 2005" post. I know it's early, but I felt like doing it now, and since I know about all their upcoming album releases, this list is very unlikely to change anytime soon:

10. MuDvAyNe
09. Nickelback
08. Arch Enemy
07. Static-X
06. Green Day
05. Linkin Park
04. Alien Ant Farm
03. Angels & Airwaves
02. System of a Down
01. Disturbed

Discension between the ranks, yes. Decisions are hard when you have to cut it down to ten. Oh, and for anyone who hasn't read/heard, System of a Down is going on "hiatus" after their headlining summer Ozzfest tour, which basically means they won't be working with each other for at least 2-3 years while they pursue other personal goals and side projects. However they are still on VERY good terms with each other and are NOT breaking up. There will be future SOAD albums, but we'll just have to wait another half decade to hear them. I love you guys, and can't wait to see you shred up the stage alongside Disturbed. Fuck. Yes.

Ok, off to Asgarnia. I love you, Andrea. Dearly.

"When all is said and done
Will we still feel pain inside?
Will the scars go away with night?
Try to smile for the morning light
It's like the best dream to have
Where everything is not so bad
Every tear is so alone
Like God himself is coming home

To say I
I can do anything, If you want me here
And I can fix anything, If you'll let me near
Where are those secrets now
That you're too scared to tell
I whisper them all aloud
So you can hear yourself

Green trees were the first sign
The deepest blue, the clearest sky
The silence came with brightest eyes
Like turning water into wine
The children ran to see
Their parents stood in disbelief
And those who knew braced for the ride
The Earth itself then came alive

To say I
I can do anything, If you want me here
And I can fix anything, If you'll let me near
Where are those secrets now
That you're too scared to tell
I whisper them all aloud
So you can hear yourself

I'm sorry I have to say it but you look like you're sad
Your smile is gone, I noticed it bad
The cure is if you let in just a little more love
I promise you this, a little's enough"

Pure poetry.
