I'm reading this book by Jean Renoir right now called My Life and My Films. There is this great quote that opens up the beginning of the chapter entitled A Visit to Dufayel:
"Great loves are never premeditated. We are never on the lookout for the woman destined to transform our life. The girl we set out to conquer was the girl we knew at school; another one becomes our wife. Besides, a man never conquers a woman; it is the woman who conquers the man she has chosen, and her method is to persuade him that it was he who took the initiative."
Isn't it just wonderful how you can use words to paint a description of life that is so beautiful? I mean I love the part how he describes the woman who will "transform our life." I mean that's what it's like. Women (or men) do transform our lives and I guess for this we should be eternally grateful. :)
