New Semester

Yesterday started the new semester.

Yay school! Woo!

This semesters schedule took some digging to even develop because I had to essentially scrounge into the "What is Bobby slightly interested bucket" to fill up my schedule.

I'm taking Symphonic Literature, where we'll be exploring the development of the symphony and the various master works associated with it.

That's my only class.

Otherwise:

Band
Conducting lessons
Flute lessons
Voice lessons
Piano lessons

XD

With flute, Dr. Small is allowing Katie and I to pick music and conduct the flute choir, which will be great experience. Furthermore, we're trying a buddy system, where Katie and I will each sit in on the other's lesson to observe. Thirdly, Katie and I have each been assigned a Freshman to work with throughout the entire semester for one half hour every week. Essentially, we'll run half their lesson and get feedback on our teaching from Dr. Small. That will also be great experience. Aside from that, Katie and I have been preparing a duet recital, which we hope to put on at the end of September. Then I need to begin preparing doctoral audition materials. I'd like to enter a contest for myself, but also for a flute quartet...XD Oh god. The list gets longer and longer every time I think about it.

For conducting, I'm not sure what we'll be doing yet--we're meeting tomorrow to figure that out--but Katie and I are doing that together, as well. One hope is that our professor will observe us conducting the flute choir. More feedback there.

For voice, I simply want to get a grounding in basic voice technique because it will be mostly applicable to playing the flute. There are pieces that include singing, and I'm interested in performing at least one of those.

For piano, I want to sit down at any given piano and take out any given piece and be able to play it/work on it. I'm not expecting to become amazing, but I want to be proficient. Furthermore, piano aids in score reading and theoretical understanding, which I could use lots of help/practice with.

Plus my 20 hour GA.

Katie and I are also working out every morning through the week at 6. So I've been getting up at 5 so far. As long as I go to sleep at a reasonable time every night, this should all work out.

The current issue is my struggle to piece together my schedule. Lots of little pieces that need to fit. So far so good, but I'm only half done...

Ok! I really need to go practice now.
