30Qs - Anime you're ashamed you enjoyed
DBZ - Saiyaman
A part of me really wishes that I weren't serious about this. It is, unfortunately, the sick sad truth. The above is a part of the only reason I ever liked DBZ, and the only thing that got me to sit through the Cell, Android and Majin-buu sagas when they repeated on old-school toonami. (Also sad that that is now "old school." geeze.)
I am not a fan, at all, of Akira Toriyama. Not his art, writing, or the concepts for either. I find the DB universe to completely pointless, overly macho BS that kind of needs to die in fire. The so-called "Saiyaman Saga," a short comedic break from the every-day power-up-episodes of DBZ was a breath of fresh air in an otherwise completely unwatchable series.
But if it was watchable, why am I still ashamed of enjoying it? Because, like all things Dragonball, this saga is still filled with incredible non-sense and macho posturing. The lead character, Gohan, does the latter a little less than every other male character in the series, true. Probably because he somehow manages to be a bigger dork than his father--previously I wouldn't have accepted that as possible. Laughably, it still isn't humanly possible.
The hard-core DB fans tend to hate this saga. They cite it as being entirely against everything the show is about, that it degrades the supposed "plot" of the series, and just sort of makes fun of itself the whole way through.

If Twilight were to do a spin-off in which Renesmee decides to dress in pink spandex and play glitter-happy super hero to the people of Forks, who have no friggin clue what the hell she's on about... Well, for starters she'd be Sailor Moon, and I'd probably enjoy the series.
