Random thoughts of the day
I might as well call this the "Unpopular Opinion Time" meme or something, but these are the various head-canon/fandom related things which have occurred to me today:
Harry Potter:
1. Severus Snape is basically asexual / demi-sexual. The reason he didn't have any other romantic interest in his life was because he didn't want or need one. Yes, he did at one time want a romantic relationship with Lilly, but would have been just as happy to have remained a lifelong platonic friend and confidant. Snape felt that James' position in Lilly's life effectively shut out any possibility of that, in part due to their ongoing hatred of one another, and partly to James finding it weird that his wife's best friend was another guy. He was right.
2. He tried several times to apologize to Lilly before he fully joined the Death Eaters, but was driven away (physically) by James and Sirius. They saw Lilly's contempt of Snape as license to do what they pleased.
3. Voldemort's followers apparently had no knowledge what-so-ever of his origins, otherwise they'd have been forced to kill him based upon his own beliefs of pure-blooded-ness. Bellatrix would have defended him anyway, though she have been totally disgusted with herself the entire time.
I'll probably add to this as I figure them out.
