Dear Yuletide Writer
This letter may be far more information than you need or want. I'm enthusiastic, and I personally love a lot of info in my recipient's letter. Some is recycled from previous years, some is new. I've listed what my sign-up will likely be on the official form, and given extra prompts for those who want to write all the sex. I'm hoping a Yuleporn post will go up again this year, so that's referenced here, too. :)
In General
Do Not Wants: Let's get the negatives out of the way. My biggest request is that you please don't write a Christmas-themed story no matter what we matched on. I'd also like to avoid character death, rape, betrayal, and kinks that aren't all that common. I doubt I need to list them. If you have to wonder if it's too much for me (torture, mpreg, genderswap), it probably is.
I'd rather not get a crack fic unless I say so for a specific fandom, but humor within a story is great when it fits! I'd prefer not to get AU stories in general or those set in the characters' distant past or far future (I prefer canon settings 98% of the time, at least), stories about kids or where the characters are children, crossovers, pregnancies, or stories in first or second person.
I apologize if my list seems long. I don't want you, as a writer, to feel disappointed by your assignment, but those are the types of things I really don't want, please.
Wants: As far as what I do want, I like everything from gen to smut. People who love each other and are protective and devoted, whether in friendship or romantic entanglements, do it for me. Some of them are messed up and in messed up relationships, but that's good, too.
I love first times, pining that ends in success, dancing around each other unsure of what to do. I like older/younger and stories like cop/inmate, teacher/student (though college, so the student is an adult technically), and those kinds of imbalances. Got no problem with sibling incest. I like a lot of different story types, like fake marriage/couple that leads to more, sex polleny things, accidental stimulation, soulmates, hurt/comfort, one bringing the other back from death or the in-between, case fic, character studies, plotty adventures, and stories of any length. I don't mind serious issues being dealt with in the story as long as the spotlight is on the characters and not the cause.
Also, I'm fine with characters I didn't request showing up if you want to include them, so long as the focus stays on the ones I asked for. Don't feel obligated to include anyone extra, though!
SEX-Yuleporn!
I know some writers sign up afraid that they'll get porn prompts and some are disappointed if they don't get them. If you don't write sex, please don't think I'll be disappointed in a sexless story just because I've given smut prompts alongside regular ones. I won't be! I enjoy stories with or without it, and just want to make sure there are prompts that fit each type of writer! When there's sex, I really enjoy it in the context of a larger story.
I'll admit I'm not a huge fan of many PWPs that start with them already in the bed and end with a post-orgasm snuggle--unless during the course of it there's a lot of characterization and internal dialogue that's not just play-by-play descriptions of the sex. I like the sex to mean more than physical release, is what I'm saying.
Finally, please don't be intimidated by my long-winded gushing or my prompts. I know a lot of people like specific ideas, so I try to provide them and hope I've given you a letter you can work with. If you have your own idea, run with that! And please don't think that I like a fandom any less if I've written less about it or offered fewer ideas, or that me having more to say about something means I want that particular fandom more than the rest. I love all of these, and can't wait to see your story in any one of them!
Touching Evil (US) (David Creegan, Susan Branca, Cyril Kemp)
Sign-up: You can go gen to sex here. I would LOVE a story in which Cyril is content and okay, maybe even happy, even though he can't get back to Alpha 9. It doesn't have to be centered around him (though it can be), but he should just be content by the end of it. As far as David and Susan go, it can stay platonic with UST or go farther, I'm easy there.
I love the whole show, so anything from casefic to something dark to them having dinner together with nothing more than snarky yet affectionate conversation will make me happy! No Christmas themes, please.
I love David's ability to be completely goofy yet deadly serious at the same time, and Susan's calm presence against his sometimes manic behavior and way of thinking. And I love Cyril and his friendship with David. This is one of my favorite het fandoms, probably because Vera Farmiga is amazing. I like David/Susan a lot, even if it's in that UST want-to-but-don't way. I just love them together as friends, partners and whatever else you want to write.
I chose Cyril, as well, because I'd love for him to figure in somehow, and maybe be settled with the idea he can't get home. A story in which they're all together doing something and Susan has to try to follow two brains that take the road less traveled by, that would be cool. But if that's kind of tough, just mention Cyril in passing and focus on Susan and David (or focus on David and Cyril's friendship). Another idea might be Cyril playing matchmaker, or even sort of crushing on Susan. David's reactions to either of those could be interesting.
Anything you're moved to write will make me happy, because I simply loved the show and the characters. Case fic, something tropey like pretend husband and wife for a case, whereer you want to go. And even though they're not officially requested, feel free to throw in any other characters you want if that's the way your story goes. Mark, Jay and the rest of the OSC are certainly welcome, but don't feel you have to add them.
SEX: If you want to write the sexytimes, I think David would be an intense lover, and Susan's gorgeous, so, yeah. But she also doesn't let him get away with anything, and has a broad intellect, and smart is sexy. Just about any kind of first time scenario with these two would be amazing. I think it would be particularly amazing if they were fighting, shouting or snapping back and forth, and that led to a passionate moment.
Sleepy Hollow: Abbie Mills, Ichabod Crane, Jenny Mills
Sign-up: Casefic, something shippy with Ichabod and Abbie, a threesome, I'm going to enjoy it no matter. I'd love a story that contains all three of them working together to put down some big bad or another, or working through the Mills sisters' issues, or solving something regarding Ichabod's arrival. Even a relatively plotless story that contains tons of banter between them, and I'm golden.
If you were hoping to write something romantic or sexy, I'm a serious Ichabbie shipper. I don't think they'd fall into bed--I think he has to feel no longer married in some way--but they have tons of UST going on. I'm all for more of that. Abbie a bit jealous of Ichabod's admiration of Jenny? More of that, yes, please. If you were hoping to write sexytimes between Ichabbie or all three of them, you can, you really can! Just please see my letter where I explain my thoughts about that.
I love that they're all so damn smart and snarky, and that the sisters have such a tortured past, and that he's so amazed by the modern world without becoming overwhelmed. I want them to start to heal, and I want Ichabod to adore both of them. No Christmas themes, please.
My dream for the show is an extremely slow building relationship between Abbie and Ichabod and for them to end up falling hard for each other. I want Ichabod and Jenny to be great friends, and for Jenny and Abbie to be close. Hurt/comfort would be amazing with these characters. What if Abbie gets hurt, how would Ichabod and Jenny react? Either of them protecting Abbie, maybe taking the hurt for her (facing an evil, jumping in the way, etc.) or otherwise having to save her would be great. I know Abbie does just fine taking care of herself, so I’m equally on board with her doing those things for Ichabod and/or Jenny.
Here are some prompts that I think would make interesting stories: We saw a glimpse of her dealing with purgatory and the memories of it. More of that would be awesome, because PTSD, she should have it by now and that takes care from others. Maybe they find another of Corbin’s notes or a clue that leads them to believe one of them will be in danger? Any one of them could have issues that the others have to help them through at this point. These are some ideas, but the three of them doing anything together is what I want.
SEX. One of the best ways to distract someone from something he should be doing, like saving the world from evil, is sex. It’s a bit dub-con technically, but a spell or some kind of aphrodisiac that makes his wife and responsibilities as a witness blur into the background a bit (and the same would have to affect Abbie and Jenny, too) and I can totally see it. Set in the future where Katrina is gone or has decided to stake her claim with Abraham, that would be okay too with no need for sex polleny tropes if you don't like those. (I can't see him doing anything without her being gone or some force bringing his desires to the forefront where he can't deny them.) Ichabod and Abbie have chemistry. He has it with Jenny, too.
If you want to write smut I’d enjoy Ichabod/Abbie or even a threesome (let’s face it, all three are gorgeous and that’d be hot), as long as there’s reason enough for them to do it, like an aphrodisiac spell or something similar. I suspect it would take that for the Mills’ sisters, as well (and would certainly make them touching each other okay in their books--I’ve no problem with incest here, but I’d rather have a threesome than just the sisters). A trope like fake marriage between Ichabod and Abbie that they have to do for a case or something seems like a good way to get things rolling. (I love the fake marriage trope, I do.)
A story in which they’re all a bit mojo-ed into having sex would lead to some interesting stuff after they snap out of it, including maybe admissions of feelings or that someone’s not as horrified as he/she should be? Lots of possibilities there. And of course, everyone should enjoy it and realize that they had feelings to express.
I love canon settings, but like AU in certain situations. If you want to go full porn AU with the three of them, have at it! Femdom is the rule of law, and arresting officers can commute a prisoner's sentence in exchange for certain favors (and Abbie's generous and shares with Jenny, of course). Or Ichabod's visiting from another country and is shown around by the friendlist sisters ever. Even a coffeeshop or college professor AU that results in a threesome. This is a fandom where a smutty AU sounds great to me.
If you want to write such sexytimes, I’ll love it! Don’t feel pressured to do so, though! I enjoy their dynamic, so any story with the three of them will be delightful!
Legit: Jim Jefferies, Steve Nugent, Billy Nugent
Sign-up: Buddyfic gen to threesome smut. Anything here sounds good to me. These people all love each other, even though sometimes they have a hard time showing it properly. (I think even Janice cares about Jim, probably because he cares for Steve and Billy.) I'm up for a buddy fic, an adventure or full-on sexytimes between Steve, Billy and Jim, together or in any combo. Incest is fine.
Given the context of their physical interactions (Jim getting a boner in the closet with Steve, Jim accidentally getting Billy's cock in his mouth, then masturbating him for a girl online) and the things said between them (Jim knows how long it took both of his brothers to come), you see how this kind of thing would probably go. If you're not interested in writing anything like that, then serious friendship fic is a great option. I love this show and these characters, and would love a post-season 2 fix-it story that patched things up or any type of misadventure they could go on. Please, no Christmas themes.
I loved this show. I mean, it has its floors, but mostly I thought it was brilliant and funny, even when it tried too hard. You can write me anything with any of the characters, nommed or not, on this show, and I'll enjoy it. As much as I love them all, I think Steve is the scene-stealer much of the time and the one who often makes things funniest.
What I love most about the show is its heart. It can be so touching all while horrifying us with some of Jim's horrible ideas and attitudes and making us laugh. It's so raunchy and inappropriate and moving, and I just adore it. It's the deep-down caring between all the characters that makes it work for me.
A story set anywhere in the timeline is fine, but a post-season 2 fix it fix would give me hearteyes. It's so unfortunate that it was cancelled there, because I'm sure season 3 would have set things back to rights. Season 2 ended on what I felt was a truly bleak note for everyone on the show, and I hate that it'll always stay that way. Get the guys back together again! I also think a story set earlier with Steve getting sick and Jim having to take care of him as well as Billy would be awesome, because he definitely wouldn't be happy about it. :) What if they all got sick and Janice had to come and help (if you wanted to include her, but it's not necessary)? Or she had to help Jim take care of her sons? I wish I could have also nommed Ramona, Rodney and Walter at least. I love all the characters, so if you're moved to include any that aren't nommed, please feel free!
SEX: I totally am intrigued by the idea of sexytimes with these guys. I would hope it would be in the context of the show. Jim's had Billy's cock in his mouth and masturbated him, both funny situations that I can totally see becoming a little more serious, especially with Steve participating in some way. I could see it becoming a competition or something. Who can masturbate Billy best? Who can come fastest/furthest/stay hard the longest? That sort of thing. I can see just how these situations might happen, can't you? :)
Anything along those lines would be great and feel pretty in-character. Drugs or alcohol can be involved if you want, because that makes a ton of sense for these guys. If you want, have them share a hooker or two. You know they would. Just please no regret for any of them later. I want them to be okay with whatever happens, even if it surprises them at the time. I would love anything of this nature!
House of Cards: Francis Underwood, Claire Underwood, Edward Meechum
Sign-up: The canon relationship and threesome between these characters made me so damn happy, and frankly I'm hoping for more of the same. I love that Edward went for it and wasn't nearly as hesitant as one might think he could have been, but I still feel like he's a piece of meat between two lions, both in general life and in bed. That's how I feel, and I frankly love that whole idea. Whether you want to write him simply being loyal and wonderful to Claire and Francis, or you're up for writing sexytimes get the three of them together, and I can't wait to read it. Please, no Christmas themes.
I'd love to see more of the little slips in front of Edward and the things they did in front of him in a sort of buildup to what happened. He walked in when Francis was watching porn, and Francis didn't even twitch--things like that, whether sex-related or not. How much did they let him see? How much of it was manipulative rather than innocent? We know they like to play the long game--I'd love to see more of that. Are they setting him up for something in the future, or was this simply what it appeared to be? I like to think they do care for him as much as they're capable, but we know that people they've loved for years can be thrown under a bus without too much deliberation.
SEX: If you're up for writing sextimes, I would love to see what happened during their first time together, after the fade to black when Francis went to kiss him. (Damn it, Netflix, I love that your shows often have queer characters, but could you stop cutting away right before your threesomes? (Frowns extra-hard at Hemlock Grove, too.)) I can also imagine second and third and fourth times, so if you want to write one of those, please do! At a fancy event, they could slip away with their bodyguard into a room to relieve some stress, or have Edward drive them somwhere remote to enjoy backseat limo sex like teenagers after prom or something. ;) Now that he's the POTUS, a little oval office action with Claire and Edward doesn't seem beneath him, either.
I do feel like Claire and Francis are both so dominant and demanding and so very confident in bed, just like in life, that it would be them controlling everything with Edward sort of doing what he's told and what's expected of him, just like in his position with them. And I find the idea of a fairly helpless but enthusiastic Edward literally being between them and maybe at their sexual beck and call quite enticing. If your ideas are different, though, go for it!
The Blacklist: Raymond Reddington, Dembe, Elizabeth Keen
Sign-up: I want to know more about Dembe and his connection to Red, and I'd love for that connection to be revealed to Lizzie in the context of the story. Red and Dembe have such deep caring between them, such loyalty. When Dembe was about to be shot like Luli moments before, the unspoken things that passed between them were amazing. I want to know what those are and why, so a Red and Dembe origin story would thrill me. I would also enjoy a story involving Red, Dembe and Lizzie doing just about anything, whether it's working out what's going to happen next, or discussing almost anything, as long as Dembe figures in a bit more heavily than usual on the show. He's going to protect and save Red and Lizzie no matter what, so a story where he does that would be awesome, too.
I hold out hope that Lizzie and Dembe will become really great friends beyond him just protecting her, but whether that will happen on the show or not remains to be seen. They're fairly comfortable with each other, at least, so anything expanding on that will be great, too. Or something could happen to Dembe (though not death or anything irreversible) that upsets Red and Lizzie is there for him and gets to hear about something they did in the past.
More Dembe interacting with Red and Lizzie, that's my wish. You can throw any other characters, nommed or not, in there if you want to. I love the whole show, so feel free!
Dembe bears the mark that shows he was trafficked at some point and Red's hatred of the woman who ran the operation (and obviously human trafficking) hints a lot at how they might have encountered each other. The difference between Luli's death (angry sob) and the way Dembe was about to tie speaks to a far deeper relationship with Dembe than Luli (though Red obviously mourned her greatly). Whether Red rescued him from slavery or he was already liberated when they met, we don't know. But clearly something (or several things) have happened between them to make them so devoted to one another. When the both thought Dembe was going to die, that was a profound and I think beautiful moment with Dembe preparing to die, and them reciting from the Qur'an together. The look they shared, just wow.
I'll enjoy anything about them together--their beginnings, one saving the other, an adventure they were on--and it's great if it's revealed through Lizzie or she's a witness to it in some way. I love Lizzie and requested her, but if you're really feeling and Red and Dembe story without her, it's okay to leave her out.
SEX: If you imagine their background includes intimacy, I am down with you going there. :) It doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility between them. I am also happy with the frequent moments of tension between Red and Lizzie. I don't believe he's her father, so you can be as sexy as you want between them, too. Lizzie/Dembe, to be honest, would also do it for me, even if just an intimate moment between them, a caring kiss and embrace for comfort, or more. I want the caring between all of them, so if you're not up for writing sex, a story that focuses on the relationships is great, too!
UPDATEYNESS! So I watch this show each week, and now we do have a Dembe & Red origin story and Dembe is of course as strong and amazing as we all imagined (and the story is tragic, but with a good ending). Feel free to explore what Red recounted, or write a new meeting between them of your own making. (I was so thrilled with that moment, when Red talked about it. His face, oy.)
Also, I didn't nominated or request Agent Samar Navabi, but watching this season . . . I ship Samar and Lizzie like whoa. If you want to write femslash, feel free to go there. (I ship Samar and Aram to a lesser degree--they're adorable. But Lizzie/Samar, whooo. They're amazing together!) Throw someone in the middle if you want a threesome, I don't really care who. :) I just think they're sexy as hell together.
Hemlock Grove: Roman Godfrey, Peter Rumancek
Sign-up: Oh, these two. So slashy, my gosh. I saw them as connected in a way far deeper than friendship back in season 1, long before they fell into bed with Miranda. That incident was just canon validation for me. (Because they totally touched each other during that threesome in my headcanon.) If you just see them as very close friends, then a story about that will be great. It can be set at any time during the show. We know that Roman thinks Peter's transformations are beautiful. How does Peter react when he sees Roman drink someone's blood, or when he simply sees him befanged and hungry? I'd kind of like the admiration to be mutual, even if it's mixed with a little shock and horror.
They can go to look for the baby and Miranda, with their friendship the rock keeping them on target (I love to see them comforting each other, so h/c here would be great). How will Peter react when he finds out about the baby's lineage? How will Roman explain that he didn't even know what he'd done, not until the end? I do want a happyish ending, or at least one that keeps them together even if many things aren't resolved and there are problems and tension. And a story where Peter accepts Roman for what he is and lets him know that he can't help some of the things he's done, I would love that. But a story about Peter taking care of Roman with Roman simply feeling guilty about Peter not knowing about the baby and still not telling him, that's good, too.
If you see their relationship the way I do, feel free to go as intimate as you want, right up to full-on smut. I enjoy every aspect of their relationship, from the bad to the good. Anything with them together, doing almost anything, is a story I want to read.
Roman's a great character, because he's so very much not a good guy who wants desperately to be one. He's done terrible things, but not because he chose to. And his best friend, who is a bit more uneven a character, IMO, abandoned him when he needed him most. This show (and the book it's based on) is so incredibly slashy, that I'd be surprised if anyone could watch it and not see that. With the shared dreams and instant draw toward each other, if these two are soul-mated in some way, I don't know what I'm watching. If you're not up for that, then really, a friendship story won't disappoint me! I just want loyalty between them in the end, no matter what happens. I want Peter to be there for Roman, always. They can fight and carry on and have a falling out, as long as it's mended enough in the end for them to keep going. Maybe Peter finds out Roman's the baby's father and, of course, freaks out at first, but then comes to grips with it. (I should let you know, I think Roman is a victim here, too. If he wasn't in control of himself, then he's a victim as much as the people he hurt.)
Maybe Roman goes into one of his fugue-like states in a bloodlust and Peter has to bring him back from it. Or they're on the road looking for the baby and Miranda, and someone poses a threat to one or the other. The protectiveness they have for each other makes me happy. A simple werewolf transformation story where Roman is with him as he turns/turns back, maybe they hang in the woods overnight because Roman wants to watch what he does as a wolf. And if Roman has to drink Peter's blood at some point for healing purposes or something in any story, well, I'm there for that.
I'm also a fan of other characters, so if you wanted to include any, feel free. Dr. Pryce wasn't even nominated, but I love him, as well as Shelley, Olivia and Destiny. Great characters. Don't feel obligated, but toss in any you want to put in your story.
SEX: If you're up for writing sex in this fandom between Peter and Roman, you pretty much can't go wrong with me. What's their first encounter like after the threesome, just the two of them? How does that happen? Maybe one's reluctant and needs some convincing. If you want to, write the threesome that Netflix so assholishly faded to black on and show just how much they focused on each other. :) (I didn't request Miranda, so don't feel like I'm insisting you write her, just a suggestion.) Do they have other threesomes on the road as an excuse to have sex without it really being just them? Are they in denial or do they embrace it? Does Roman rub it in Olivia's face (if you wanted to toss her in) now that they really do bang the headboard?
If you want to go darker, what happens if he goes into one of fugue states when he wants Peter? I wouldn't want full out non-con, because Peter wants him too, but I'd be on board for dubcon that starts out with Peter relutant and realizing there's nothing he can do about, and enjoying it before the end. Him getting a glimpse of the upir "hunger" in that way, that sounds smashing to me.
Sex that eases Peter's wolfy urges, or sates Roman's hunger, that's done out of a sort of desperation and need, that would be great, too. Just have fun with it, and I know I will, too.
