Memorable days

There are days that one wishes one could remember forever. Days that shines like jewels among the usual humdrum.

Of course Christmases are special, as are birthdays, but it isn't those I think of now, but those days that seems so perfect even as one live them. Just this plain ordinary day, a visit to one's grandparents in their house in the countryside, a ride down to the sea where Dad tries out his new fishing rod while Mom sits down on a bench and turns her face to the sun. And I walk, hop, jog, about the jetties, looking down the green water, spying the small fishes swimming about among the sea-weeds. I point them out to Grandma and then we have to go to Dad to help untangle the mess that his fishing-line has twisted itself into. That's fun too.

The sun was shining, and I found myself wanting to remember this day. Nothing spectacular happened, but it was such a splendid day.
