So last night was probably the best night of my entire life. I will never forget it. The concert was great. I'm not a big fan of Rilo Kiley... I like maybe 1 of their songs... so we didnt go in to the concert until they were done. We had more fun tailgaiting in the parking lot... but that's a whole other long story and I dont want to go into details. Basically we had seats in the 400s that we upgraded to for free, so we gave rachel and nici our lawn seats. Buuuut we were bad and snuck them into the 400's with us. didn't matter much b/c we never even sat in our seats. we stood up along the fence for the pit where the view was amazing.
Even better than the view was the music. They put on one hardcore, kickass, rock the house show. The way Chris Martin jumps around and goes crazy on stage just radiates energy into the crowd, and believe me you can definately feel it. and when will bangs the drums it makes your insides vibrate to the beat... the whole vibe there was just amazing. They played just about all of my favorite songs and then some. I love how he introduced the band members as different people from reality shows, talked about how they could only handle riding one of the rides, and apologized for not being mariah carey. Most artists don't take as much time as they do to talk to the audience, and Chris even let a random girl pick between 2 songs which one she wanted him to play.
The whole concert got even better when we came upon an increadible stroke of luck. my mom was making fun of how rachel and nici were dancing so of course they started dancing even more stupid and doing that whole elaine dance from seinfeld and crap so this guy walks by and sees them and randomly comes up to us. well this guy was not just any guy, he had VIP tickets to the box seats, center stage. so he was like "hey you look like you would enjoy these more than i would, have fun. they are beautiful seats." then he just handed over the tickets and walked away. so they go try to get in and the guard wouldnt let them. nici gave up so i took her ticket and rachel and i went and tried another guard and by rachel's keen sense of words we got ourselves in. like 10th row center stage... it was unbelievable.
rachel of course decided it wasnt good enough so she went and talked to another guard and the most increadible thing ever happened.... he let us in the front row where there just happened to be 2 empty seats directly center stage. so I spent the last 3 songs literally a few feet away from chris martin. I could see the beads of sweat dripping from his face, and clearly make out the hair on his stomach when he lifted his arm up and swung the big light around just before the encore. it was the most increadible experience ever. like one of those teeny-bopper girls who freaks out at a boyband concert, I literally started shaking when he broke into the first few lyrics of "Fix You". his voice just coursed through my veins like some kind of drug and brought tears to my eyes. I still can't belive I was actually there, in the front row singing my little heart out to the last 3 songs of the coldplay concert. the feeling was just so increadible, it was so surreal. At the end of the show when Chris and the rest of the band came to the very edge of the stage to bow, I was so close that if he would have reached out I could have touched him.
That feeling was so indescribable. To be there witnessing the musical genius of one of my favorite bands live was amazing enough, but to be so close and feel every word and every beat was unbelievable. Their music is so moving, but seeing it with your own eyes being performed right in front of you made it that much more special. Watching his fingers move so gracefully along the piano keys as his lips parted allowing him to belt out the most increadible lyrics was the best feeling in the world. Even if they were voted england's ugliest band as Chris joked to the people in the lawn (telling them that they weren't missing out having the farthest view), he was beautiful. I couldn't help but just stare at him in awe. The way he can work the crowd and go nuts on stage while making live music that sounds even better then the studio version is truely a gift. as if I wasn't a big enough fan before, I am now a die-hard Coldplay addict. That experience made my summer. We had such an amazing time we vowed if they come around again we are definately going.
