5 Quick Things When It's Nearly Friday

  1. I’m working on a book with a friend - something I’ve never done before.  (Actually, that’s not true; in fourth grade I wrote a book for extra credit with my friend Karin.  We had to read it out loud in front of the whole class, and I had a terrible giggle fit.  Then I worried we wouldn’t get the extra credit because the teacher was annoyed by my giggling.)  Anyway, so I’m writing this book now with my friend Logan, and really loving the process.  I don’t like to say too much about my work before I know for certain that it will turn into an actual, complete, published book, but suffice it to say that this book is about friendship.  I think the books I’ve written (by myself) so far have been about family, and it’s interesting to me that it took writing with a friend to really get to the heart of what friendship means to me.  (That was more than I meant to write; the next four things will be shorter.)
  2. My best friend Arielle and I made a baked ziti on Tuesday night that was so beautiful I think it was museum-worthy.  It tasted just as good as it looked - and it was so incredibly enormous, we really should have invited a dozen people over to eat with us.
  3. Tonight I started rereading The Prince of Tides, which was one of my favorite books when I was young, like around my niece Nicki’s age, which is fifteen.  I wonder if she would love it as much as I did.
  4. Oh, how did I not write about this yet?  But four is my lucky number, so this is a good place for this tidbit:  The paperbacks of Positively arrived, and they are SO GORGEOUS!  They have a hot pink spine, and I put one on my shelf of signed books, which is also where I now house copies of each of my books.  (It was Arielle who made me feel okay about this:  She said I could write the date I first received my books on the inside, right where an author would sign, and then they would belong there.)  You can order your copy here.
  5. I am so thrilled that Fit Flips were invented.  I just needed to say that.  I’m sad summer is coming to an end for many reasons, not the least of which is that I will have to retire my lovely purple and black Fit Flops - at least until next year.
