Five on Friday: My Friend Logan has Great Nails & Bionic Eyes

1. Yesterday I saw my friend Logan and her fingernails were painted in a super fun way, like these blocks of different colors.  Very mod.  I wish I’d thought to take a picture of them so I could post it here.  When I complimented them, she told me she’d actually just applied "Sally Hanson’s Salon Effects Strips,” and she brought me to Duane Reade so I could get some for myself.

2.  As we walked through Duane Reade, I complained that with all the Easter candy available, I’d been unable to find my very favorite Cadbury mini eggs.  The same thing had happened to me last year, and Regan had to cross state lines to get them for me.  “I’m sure they have them,” Logan said.   I shook my head.  “I defy you to find them,” I told her.  Lo and behold, she DID find them.  I didn’t even see them there, but Logan has bionic vision.  She grabbed the one and only package in the store.  “You have been defied,” she said as she handed them over.

3.  Along with the delicious mini eggs (which were nearly fully consumed before I even left the store) I picked out and purchased multi-colored glitter strips for my nails.

4.  I don’t know why I thought if Logan could apply strips to her nails, that I’d also be able to do it.  I’m the opposite of crafty.  And not that Logan is super crafty, but she did successfully make cake pops the other day - another thing I recently failed at when I attempted them with Madden and Brody.  So I got home and I tried applying my glitter nail strips (which, incidentally, look way more greenish than multi-colored now that I have them home).  It took about a half hour for me to just do the pinky nail, and it got a bit mushed up.  Today I resolved to do the rest, but so far I’ve only completed my next three nails.  They’re not mushy, just sort of … uneven.  Also, my four glittered nails look kind of witchy - which is NOT the look I was going for.  Soon I will be heading out to attend the Teen Author Festival panels, and I will have witchy, mismatched fingernails.

5.  Also speaking of Logan, yesterday she told me that her nearly-six-year-old son was writing a book.  And not just any book, but a book that could fit into my STELLA BATTS series.  As far as I know, this is the first time anyone has ever written fan fiction based on my work!  (I asked Logan if I could have her son’s book.  She said she’d known I would want it and she had already put in the request, but he’d said no, because he wanted to keep it on his own bookshelf.)
