Holy Busyness, Batman!
Mickey Mouse Boob Ears from last week's munch:
Friday, I had the car, so I got some hanging pots at Big Lots at lunch, and then picked up Dan at work. We were early for his brothers surprise party, so we got lost in B&N for a bit. Ironically, the Frugal Gardener magazine that I wanted was $12 - wtf? So, your magazine which promotes economical tools to garden, isn't actually an economic tool! Dan got some books, we headed over to the party, yelled, "Surprise!" and got out of Dodge - I didn't know anyone, it was really loud in a tiny space; so not my scene. Home to watch Dollhouse, and I passed out while watching the last one - those alternative sleeping pills are great for normal-feeling sleepiness.
Saturday, we got up after a text from Brandon (yes, I got the clock, thanks!), I made a fritatta for breakfast that was quite yummy, ordered a shit-ton of Disney stuff from the website (finally used my gift card, Dave & Zan, thanks!) & did some gardening before dropping Dan off for fighter practice and gaming. He was going to be gone all day, so I told Whits I'd pick her up in Santa Cruz, so I headed over for Herb Room awesomeness, donuts & her shmoopy WoWing.
Got back over the hill, and hit up Target for plastic tubs (going to make a compost) & toiletries for Dan, then Daiso for all things amazing (I got more gardening stuff, & tea bags for loose tea, which I'm enjoying right now, Vanilla Almond from the Herb Room). Whitney nearly had a coronary when she went in, it was so ass-kicking fabulous in there - she spent 20 minutes in the plates & cups section alone.
By this time, it was 5, so we headed over to Herhers for a snack before dinner with Kelly at 8. We walked to a downtown Thai restaurant, where we gorged on all the favorites. $22 each, not bad!
After dinner, which was a total hoot, I called Dan and went to get him at the game in SV - they were watching Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-long Blog. The girl is the same girl from The Guild online! I had to drive, since Dan had imbibed, so I didn't get to take my pills till about 11 - went to bed after a bath in the big-ass tub around 1:30.
Sunday started early - I can't sleep in anymore for the life of me. Dan was up even earlier! I went straight to work in the garden, plowing and tilling the soil. Justin came over to fix the sound on the computer (turns out the input on the TV is broken, so my computer is fine), and they did that while I worked like a Home Depot day laborer outside. That shit is HARD! Finally got a plot around 5'x10' all ready, and put potatoes, onions, eggplant, tomatoes, squash, watermelon, artichokes and peppers in there - my reasoning is that I stuff it full of started plants, and a higher percentage will probably make it, rather than planting a few and having most of them die. If they all flourish, awesome!
What are these? I transplanted them from a big Green Earth box, but have no idea what they are:
Hanging planters, filled with strawberries, basil, marjoram, & oregano:
Went out to lunch with Dan & Justin, I was very good and got grilled veggies and fish, then back to work in the garden. We got a lot of stuff done in the house, and Dan got his whole desk area set up, and we made a large dent in the pile in the living room. Totally, exhausted, Whits called, and I met her, Heather & Bella at Ikea for more shopping. Bella was super cute through the whole store, playing with us, and constantly calling our names - it's really nice to be so plainly shown that she likes me around. Drove Whitney back to SC, then back home, and crashed emotionally.
I've been in a weird mood all weekend - like something's just about to snap, or I need to get away, do something, but I don't know what. Dan's irritability is really affecting my own moods, and I can't bounce back from it as fast as he seems to - one snap tends to ruin my mood for a while. Sure, I shouldn't let it affect me like that, but there's only so much Pollyanna to go around, and when it's stretched too thin, the holes start growing.
