Summer '09 Goal

Lose weight, 15-20lbs. I'm 59ish and weigh 140. I would love to return to 120lbs or at least in the 120s. Any advice is encouraged. :) Thank you! HAPPY SUMMER!

I left a long comment for you, but LJ wasn't cooperating...let's try this again...

I was the queen of the crash diet a few years ago, not that I would advise anyone to do the same thing--I kept my caloric intake to about 350/day six days a week and lost 30 lbs. in a little under two months.

Some items that you could try to trade out your lunchbox with:

Egg beaters: Fewer calories than regular eggs, and don't taste too bad microwaved on a piece of toast.

Sara Lee bread: I can't remember what kind of bread it was (honey wheat?), but it has about half the calories of regular white bread, and I thought it tasted better.

Salmon or crab legs: about 100 cal. per serving, really helps if you replace steak with this.

Wells Blue Bunny LITE ice cream: about 1/2 the calories of the regular stuff, and it actually tasted good.

Green beans, lettuce, spinach, broccoli: Low in calories if eaten plain, and filling.

Turkey lunch meat and Turkey bacon: not as good as its pork counterparts, but when trying to lose weight, isn't too bad.

And the best tip that ever worked for me...drink water. Before you sit down to have a meal, drink a nice tall glass of water--it will make you feel full faster, not to mention helping to make your skin look great!
