Day 7: A photo that makes me happy
Let me explain: while I am very much a mother and my children do, indeed, make me very happy, this is a special picture. This is my youngest daughter (I have three girls, for those of you who don't know), who was born small, lost a lot of weight before leaving the hospital, then weaned herself early and had eating issues. This particular picture makes me so very happy because she's standing without someone holding her up, and yes, she has to hold onto that column thing, but she's doing it on her own. And she's happy about it. So, yeah, this picture makes me ecstatic. She's healthy and well, and though at a year old she's a few months behind on a lot of the physical stuff, she's progressing. These are the things that matter.
Day 8: A photo that makes you angry/sad
I am a daughter of activists, and I am - in my own way - an activist as well. What bothers me about this picture is not the sentiment behind it, but what is being done to demonstrate that sentiment. I can't fully articulate how angry and sad, both, this (and other pictures like it) makes me, or why.
Day 9: A photo I took
(on my
Flickr, which I use sporadically at best)
I took this picture, like, four years ago and I think it's one of the ones that got posted in some WWII reenactment magazine. It was hotter than hell, there was no shade, and the smoke bombs smelled bad, but it was fun to get out there and take pictures. When I was young, I wanted to be a photojournalist in a bad way, and travel all over the place taking pictures for newspapers and magazines. This was one of my favorite days EVAR because of that.
Day 10: A photo taken of me over ten years ago
This is actually one of my favorite pictures of me EVAR. That's my grandma's old Irish Wolfhound and one of my aunts, and I think I'm about five, maybe, in it. There's a Kermit the Frog pin on my overalls. It's just a great picture.
And now I'm caught up! Enjoy the picspam.
