Amazon

Today I got my latest order from Amazon. I bought three items:

The Who - Endless Wire - At this point I've listened to this CD once through. I've heard it related to Who's Next, which is my favorite Who album, but I have to disagree. While I think it's better than It's Hard and has thus redeemed Pete as a songwriter, I don't think it's nearly as strong as their greatest work. I would say it sounds closest to The Who By Numbers, which has the same sweet-sounding style, rather than the harder sound of Who's Next or Quadrophenia. In fact, the track titled "It's Not Enough" is reminiscent of CSNY with their style of tight harmonies. I think it's a good addition to anyone's Who collection, but it isn't revolutionary. 3 out of 5 stars.

Barack Obama - The Audacity of Hope - The reviews for this book are pretty strong on Amazon, and I wanted to find out more about the junior senator before I start pinning my 2008 presidential hopes on him. Sorry Hillary, I just don't think it would work out.

Chris Mooney - The Republican War on Science - I don't remember how I originally found this one, but it sounds very interesting. Supposedly it details the various instances in which the Bush administration (and others) have pushed directly against science. My friends know I'm a Christian, but hopefully they also know that I am a firm believer in the separation of church and state, and I am assuming and hoping that such issues will be covered by this book with respect to evolution, at least. We'll see soon enough.
