Title: (You and I) Collide
Pairing: Quinn/Rachel
Rating: PG-13 so far.. might change in the future
Spoilers: Through "A Very Glee Christmas"
Summary: Quinn's tired of Sam, so decides to comfort Rachel after her break up with Finn. She never expected that comforting Rachel would lead to this. Quinn's POV.
A/N: The songs in this chapter is Be Mine! by Robyn and Breakeven by The Script. This is my first Faberry fic, so it will get better once I get farther into it. The only thing I own are the mistakes. Hope you like it!

Quinn walked into the choir room, Sam not far behind her. She was getting a little tired of him. When she saw that Santana and Brittany were already in the room, she walked over to them.
    "Hey, Q," Santana grumbled.
    "What's up with you?"
    "Nothing."
Quinn saw Sam sit down next Finn. She was happy when Puck took the seat next to him. When she saw the last available seat, she frowned. It was next to Rachel, who looked like she just watched her dog get run over by a car. Quinn sighed and headed over to the seat, avoiding Sam's gaze. Shue stormed into the room right as she was sitting down.
"Hello," Rachel whispered so quietly, Quinn almost didn't hear it.
    "Hey," she whispered back.
"Sorry that I'm late. I just... nevermind. There's only a week until Winter break, so the theme is Free-For-All. Sing whatever you want. Any takers?"
Everyone, including Quinn, looked at Rachel. She was always the first to do a song. When she didn't jump up, Quinn gave her a confused look.
"You aren't going to go first?"
    "I-I can't."
    "Sure you can."
"No, Quinn. I cannot sing. I would prefer to just sit here and sulk if that's alright with you."
    "Is this because of Finn?"
    Rachel nodded.
"I know the perfect song. I'll sing for you."
Before Rachel could protest, Quinn raised her hand.
"Quinn! That's a change. Come on," Shue said. Quinn walked over to Brad and whispered him the song. He nodded and she stood in front of her friends. The piano started playing and she saw Rachel's head snap up.

It's a good thing tears never show in the pouring rain..
As if a good thing ever could make up for all the pain..

She looked at Rachel quickly. There was a faint smile on her lips.

There'll be no last chance, I promise to never mess it up again..
Just a sweet pain of watching your back as you walk..
As I'm watching you walk away..
And now you're gone, there's like an echo in my head..
And I remember every word you said..

Finn was looking at Rachel.

It's a cruel thing, you'll never know all the ways I tried..
It's a hard thing faking a smile when I feel like I'm falling apart inside..
And now you're gone, there's like an echo in my head..
And I remember every word you said..

Shue's eyes were misty.

That you never were and you never will be mine..
No, you never were and you never will be mine..

For the first time, there is no mercy in your eyes..
And the cold wind's hitting my face, and you're gone..
And you're walking away..

Rachel had tears rolling down her face.

And I am helpless sometimes, wishing's just no good..
Cause you don't see me like I wish you would..

Cause you never were and you never will be mine..
No, you never were and you never will be mine..
There's a moment to seize every time that we meet..
But you always keep passing me by..
But you never were and you never will be mine..

She repeated the chorus twice before fading out. Everyone clapped, except Sam. Quinn didn't really care that he didn't. She took her seat by Rachel after taking a bow.
    "So, what did you think?"
"It was amazing. That is one of my favorite songs. Thank you."
"You're welcome. Finn was staring at you through most it. And Shue's eyes got misty."
"You have an excellent voice, and that is a very powerful song. It's only appropriate to cry."
    "Right. Thanks, I guess."
Rachel shrugged before Shue said, "That was amazing, Quinn. Very moving. Is there anyone else who would like to blow us out of the water?"
Everyone looked at Rachel again, but not Quinn. She knew that the brunette probably wouldn't sing at all this week. For some reason, that disappointed her.
"Very well then, but I would like to hear from everyone sometime this week. We won't be practicing for three weeks, so we need to get in as much as we can. You're excused."
Quinn got up to leave, but realized that Rachel hadn't moved. She didn't want to leave with Sam (he was standing by the piano waiting for her), so she decided to stay with Rachel.
    "Q," Sam asked in confusion.
"I'm going to talk to Rach. See you later."
He sighed before leaving the room. Once Shue and Brad left, Rachel looked at Quinn.
"You didn't have to blow Sam off. I'm fine."
"No you aren't. And don't worry about Sam. It's nice to have a break from him."
"Then why didn't you go with Santana and Brittany?"
"It's nice to have a break from them, too."
Rachel looked at her feet. Quinn had never seen her this down before. She's usually bouncy and annoying.
"So," Quinn started. She tried to think of something to talk about. She ended up with, "what did you get for Hanukkah?"
Rachel chuckled faintly before replying, "You seriously want to talk about that?"
"No, but it was all I could think of."
    There was an awkward silence.
"Do you think I could hang out with you tonight? I was suppose to go out with Sam, but like I said, I need a break from him."
"I guess. My dads won't have a problem with it. They'll probably love seeing that I'm still socializing."
    "It's that bad, huh?"
    "Yeah."
They walked out to Quinn's car, where they found Sam. He was leaning on the driver's side.
"Oh, hey Sam. Did you forget something in my car?"
"No. I just wanted to get a kiss. I'm not going to see you until later."
"About that. Rach really needs some support, so I'm going to spend the night at her place."
Quinn pushed him out of the way so she could unlock the door. She swung it open and got in. Sam got ahold of the door before she could shut it.
"Can I at least have a kiss?"
"No. Now move before I run you over."
Sam let go of the door and walked over to his Porsche. Quinn had a feeling he was going to follow her. She started the car and stayed idle.
"Quinn, are we going to go?"
    "After he leaves."
    Rachel turned the radio on.

Cause when a heart breaks, no it don't break even..

Quinn turned it off. She turned it to a different station, which played '80s music.
"I love the '80s," Rachel said. Quinn heard Rachel hum to the tune. She smiled and stared at the brunette. Her stomach clenched when Rachel turned to her and smiled. One of those "Hi-I'm-Rachel-Berry-and-I'm-a-star!" smiles. Quinn would usually find it annoying and would probably kick Rachel out of her car, but she actually found it nice. The smile faded and Quinn followed where she was looking. Finn was looking in the driver's window. It made the blonde jump. She rolled down the window.
    "What do you want, Finn?"
"Can I talk to you, Q?"
"We have to be somewhere," she responded when she saw Sam's car speeding out of the parking lot.
    "I'll make it quick."
She looked back at Rachel who was now staring at her lap.
    "Fine."
Quinn whipped the door open and almost hit Finn. She secretly wished that she would have.
    "You have one minute."
"Right. Okay, that song earlier. I know why you sang it."
"That's what you wanted to talk to me about? The song I sang?!"
"Let me finish! I got the message you were sending. And even though Sam is one of my good friends, I do still have feelings for you."
"What? You thought I sang that song to tell you that I like you?"
    "Well, yeah."
Quinn couldn't help but burst out into laughter. Finn gave her a confused look.
"I'm so sorry if that was the message I was sending. I was actually singing for-"
She was cut off by Finn ducking his head down towards her. Luckily, she moved fast enough to avoid the kiss.
"What the hell are you doing?! Rachel is right there," Quinn yelled while pointing back at her car, "and you think it's a good idea to hurt her more? You are ridiculous!"
Quinn ended with slapping Finn across the face. She jumped in her car and sped out of the parking lot as fast as she could.
"We need to stop at my house so I can get some clothes. If you still want me over?"
    "Yeah. That wasn't your fault."
"He thought I was implying that I still like him. You know, when I was singing."
    Rachel laughed loudly.
"My exact reaction," Quinn said while chuckling.
"Thanks for making me laugh. It felt good."
Quinn nodded and smiled. She bit her bottom lip when she saw Rachel smiling again. There was a comfortable silence between them as the blonde drove towards her house.
Quinn pulled into her driveway. She grabbed her duffle bag from her trunk and ran inside. Her mom was in the Study reading. Quinn tried to pass the room without her mom seeing her.
    "Hey Quinnie! How was school?"
She swore to herself before answering, "Good, mom. I an A+ on my History test."
"That's wonderful, darling! We should order take out to celebrate."
"I can't. I'm going over to a friend's house. She just went through a rough break up, so I thought she would need some support."
    "Who is this friend?"
    "Rachel Berry."
"The one with the gay dads?"
    "Yes, mother. That Rachel Berry."
"I don't know, Quinn. It is a school night."
"We're not doing anything this week. There's not even early Cheerios practice."
"That doesn't mean you can spend the night at a friend's house."
"If it was Brittany or Santana, you would have no problem. They don't have gay parents."
Before her mother could respond, she walked down the hall to her room and threw some clothes into her bag. She stormed out of the house without saying goodbye. She threw her bag in the back seat and got into the driver's seat.
    "What's up?"
"My mom," Quinn said while backing out, "She didn't want me to spend the night at your house because of your gay dads."
    "That's what she said?"
"Well, not those exact words, I know it's what she meant."
"You shouldn't disrespect your mother, Quinn. She is still in charge of you for the next two years."
"I really don't care. You're a mess and you need a friend right now."
"Does that mean I'm your friend?"
"Maybe. You'll have to wait and see."
The drive to Rachel's wasn't long. Quinn put the car in park, grabbed her bag, and locked the doors. She followed Rachel, who was a little hesitant at first, inside. When she entered, she was taken by the beauty of the house. She never expected Rachel's house to look like that. She pictured annoyingly bright colors with maybe a horrible pattern. But instead, they were very elegant colors and no patterns what-so-ever. Unless you consider the several pictures of Rachel a pattern.
"My dads won't be home until seven, so we have the house to ourselves until then. What do you want first?"
"Can I have a tour of the Berry house? So I know where everything is?"
Rachel nodded and grabbed her wrist. Quinn shivered at the electric shock that shot through her entire body and made her veins vibrate. She let Rachel's hand stay where it was at as she was pulled through the first floor, up the stairs, and through the second floor. They ended with the brunette's room. That's when Rachel let go of Quinn.
"I know it looks like a five year old lives in here, but we never got around to remodeling it."
Quinn took in the faded pink walls. They were covered in trophies, awards, medals, and musical posters.
"My bathroom is right there," Rachel said, pointing at the door with a large gold star on it. Quinn rolled her eyes and smiled.
    "Only you, Rach."
    "What?"
"The gold star. Only you would have that on a bathroom door."
Rachel bit the corner of her bottom lip and looked away. Quinn couldn't keep her eyes off of the brunette's lips. When the other girl looked back at her, she stared at the gold star.
"I'm going to change out of this outfit. It gets annoying after awhile."
Rachel nodded and Quinn walked into the bathroom. She changed into sweat pants and a red, thin tee. She took her hair out of it's ponytail and let it flow over her shoulders. After messing with it a bit and applying a coat of lip gloss, she exited the bathroom. She looked up to see how Rachel would react, but didn't find the smaller girl.
    "Rach?"
When there wasn't a response, she walked down the hall and down the stairs.
    "Rachel?"
"I'm in the kitchen! I'm making some popcorn."
Quinn walked into the kitchen just in time to see Rachel reaching up in a cupboard to get the box of popcorn. Her shirt was pulled up, and Rachel's tan stomach was visible. Quinn caught herself staring at it and forced herself to look at something else.
    "Ugh! Quinn," Rachel shouted.
    "Yes?"
    Rachel jumped.
"Oh, I didn't know you were there. I wouldn't have yelled if-," Rachel trailed off as her eyes scanned Quinn's new outfit. Quinn smiled inside and faintly outside.
    "What do you need, Rach?"
"Huh? Oh, um.. I-I can't reach the, um, the, um... pop- popcorn."
Quinn walked over and reached up, making sure to stretch enough so that her own skin would be exposed. She smiled when she heard Rachel inhale sharply. It probably wasn't a good idea to tease (even though she didn't know why she was in the first place) Rach when she was brutally dumped the week before, but she couldn't help herself. She pushed the box back so she could reach just a little bit more. This caused Rachel to exhale unevenly.
"Here we are," Quinn said as she brought the box down from the top shelf. She looked at Rachel just in time to see the other girl looking away quickly. She couldn't hold back the smile that formed on her lips.
"Uh, you can go sit in the living room while I make the popcorn."
Quinn nodded but didn't move from Rachel's side as she stuck a bag of popcorn in the microwave and watched it pop. The blonde put an arm around the other girl's shoulders and brought her in for a hug. Her entire body felt like it was on fire. It wasn't until the microwave beeped that the girls parted. Quinn cursed the microwave silently as Rachel pulled the bag out and poured the contents into a bowl. They walked into the living room and sat down on the couch.
"Here," Rachel mumbled as she handed Quinn the TV remote. Quinn took it, making sure their fingers touched lightly. As she flipped through channels, the blonde questioned herself again. Why did she want to be so close to Rachel Berry? Why was she even at her house?
    "Quinn?"
Quinn snapped out of her thoughts and looked at Rachel. "Hm?"
    "Your phone is ringing."
She reached for the phone in her pocket and looked at the name. Finn.
    "Hello," Quinn said.
"Hey. I just wanted to say sorry."
    "Okay."
"I'm just a little confused lately."
    "You're not the only one."
    "What?"
    "Nothing."
    "So we're good then?"
    "Sure. Bye."
    "Bye."
The blonde hit the end button and slid the phone into her pocket.
    "Who was that?"
"Brittany," Quinn replied, knowing telling Rachel who really called would only put the girl down more. Rachel and her stared at each other for what seemed like hours. Quinn kept making quick glances at the other girl's lips. She slowly leaned into the brunette.
    "Quinn, what are you-"
    "Shh. Don't talk."
When she was only centimeters away, her phone blasted "I've Had the Time of My Life", making both girls jump. Quinn knew who that ringtone belonged to. Sam.
