He just wants to know if Lantis's sword is the key or not. It has nothing to do with trust.

Sure it does. If he trusted Lantis, then he wouldn't have to scan the sword. And there's not really any point to taking it, even if it was the right one, because he can't take it home with him. If he trusted what we told him about the City, he'd understand that.

Doubting the city, and how it may operate in the future doesn't mean he doubts what you've told him about your experiences here. [Replies to that statement first as she also wonders if the city will always remain static and predictable in regards to what one can or can't do between worlds]

He just wants to be sure and if it really would have no effect I can't see the harm and putting his mind at ease. That's all.

...I understand what you're saying, but the thing is that he's - well, he's already attacked Lantis once. Just to look at something that he may not have any use for, something that Lantis doesn't want to give him. It's a bit worrying.
