[60] Carve my name
[Sam Harper, likes_cameras, Andy Rhodes, called_thumper, and Serena Simon, ineverhit_you are all used with permission and more love than one could possibly imagine.]

"Just so you know, I'm carving your initials into the tree by the playground," Devon said, hoping the sound of his activity could be heard through his cell phone.
"Uh," Sam answered, no doubt at a loss for words.
"Oh, I'm carving mine as well." He exchanged glances with Serena who was now sitting on a picnic table, her arm draped around her boyfriend. Andy's dog was lying down at the edge of the picnic table's bench, seemingly not in the mood for the walk he had been taken for. Serena smirked, and said something under her breath. Devon assumed she was thanking Andy for letting Devon use his pocket knife.
"There's an 'and' sign between them. Or, there will be. Like, a plus but -- fancier," Devon continued, busying himself with Sam's H. "But, I can't decide if my initials should be above or below yours. Yours are pretty much in the middle of the tree so the two of us together being in the middle is kind of shot. Someone's either on top or the bottom. I mean, I am." Taking a step back, Devon scratched his forehead as his phone slid forward. "I just can't decide."
As if on cue, Murphy (a peculiar name for a dog) awoke and sniffed the side of the picnic table before hopping up onto the bench and rubbing against Serena's leg. She rolled her eyes and looked to Andy.
"So?" Devon asked after the silence had gone on for too long. "I know you just said, 'I love you' and that in itself is a milestone but I felt very declarative today if that's even a word and I wanted to do this. And I find it's funny considering some parents might frown on the idea of two guys professing their love to each other on a tree - or, one on the phone and the other at the tree. And if they want to, they can assume S.H. is Samantha Harrington or something else but for us this'll make sense and I like it and I'm crazy and so, top or bottom?"
Tilting his head, Devon squinted his right eye and then his left attempting to imitate an art enthusiast. That earned him a, "Finish up!" from Andy. Sighing, Devon took a step forward.
"You're in love with a crazy person who hasn't even let you get a word in edge-wise. You understand that right?" Devon asked.
Sam laughed at that. "I understand that."
"So, top or bottom?"
"Bottom."
"I love you," Devon replied, touching the knife to the tree a few inches under the S.H. he had carved.
"I know." Sam replied.
"Bitch..." Devon said, jokingly with an attitude, his body turning with it.
"I love you too." Sam laughed while he said it, something Devon loved to hear almost as much as those four words or the previous three he himself had said.
"You think '4ever' is too much?"
