[Couples Therapy] 23.1 - Spark
[filtered to those aware of the supernatural]
Spark? Tadhg and me? Oh yeah, there’s lots of those. Seriously...if sparks were currency? I could roll naked in a bed of money, sleep with it as a sheet. Better yet? I could probably get the boy to go horsey and we could ride through a soft, papery meadow of dollar-bill grass and quarter daisies. Or maybe penny daisies, copper’s a much prettier color.
We work, that’s all I know for absolute certain. The age difference (he’s fey, there IS one), the difference in temperament, the whole mortal vs. mostly immortal thing...we are what we are and it fits. It’s like puzzle pieces...really hot, sizzling, puzzle pieces that sometimes form dirty pictures and snap into place in some pretty crazy ways, but those pieces still lock together airtight.
I get on his nerves a little sometimes, I disturb his work. He’s too sedentary for me sometimes...steady, deliberate. He’s got more than control over everything, he’s simply got a steadiness to him that I don’t understand. Could be age, could be power, but Tadhg is never anything less than Tadhg. As close to Old Reliable as you’re gonna get. It’s funny, too, that I’m one of the few people who sees that, who understands the way he looks at things. He comes off as disconnected, but the fact is he’s tied into everything.
I guess we’re like flint. We strike together, and you get a spark. He’s the solid surface, I’m the unpredictable heat. Stick us in the same space, and there’s friction...but it’s the kind that creates a fire. Y’know, a nice cheery little blaze you can warm your hands with.
Sometimes we don’t get each other, but at the end of the day? We share a lot. Surface stuff like creative natures, loving animals, and a solid belief that one day AJ Baxter will grow up and make us all sorry he ever had enough years on him to get behind the wheel of a car...at least if his skill with the Tonka truck is any indication. Deeper beneath the surface, power connects us...he’s an Irish horse fey, I’m a witch with strong ties to nature’s animal aspect. And I won’t even get started on the tattoo he did for me, and all the sparky goodness that ensued as a result of it.
