*hugs* I am so glad to be back, and no I am not surprised that you have thoughts. It is so great to be talking about this stuff again. I have been watching so many great shows and have had no one to talk to about them :(
I do love the carriage scene, but you are right, it certainly fit better in Kush. By giving us a little bit of history spread out over the seasons they were able to mix up the storylines - which helped the pace of the show.
>>I loved it when Helen told Will he was her worst nightmare. (Even though, knowing Helen as I do now, she probably hadn't known Will long enough to tell him something like that, so I'm glad they cut it.)
I know - That line was so great! Did they ever use that in the show? And you are also right about how Helen probably would not have told Will that at this time.
>> I only would have kept his need/craving for a family a bit more. I think that was the part that was missing the most. I was thinking back to his intro in SFA and you are right (of course) that he was really only at the Sanctuary to
( ... )
I don't think they ever did use that line the show. Sad times.
You know the moment where we see John wanting a family the most? ... Out of the Blue. And I just thought about that I was typing. You'd think I've watched that episode enough times already to make the connection, but no, I only think about it now. OOTB is perfect example (albeit in an AU) of John wanting his family back. Now if only they would have kept that from the beginning!
Out of the Blue - my favorite episode! Why didn't that come to mind earlier? Wouldn't it have been so great if they had been able to get Emelie for that episode? I wonder how it would have changed the storyline. But yeah, I think there is that yearning for a family that we don't really see anywhere else. Though his concern for Ashley at the end of "Revelations" is very touching and the father in him kind of comes out.
I think they wanted Emilie back for that episode. (Well, I know they wanted her for one episode in season 3, and I think that's the one.) But in the end, her part wouldn't have been that important, and they didn't want to bring her back for only a few lines and a few seconds on screen. So they scrapped her part to be fair to all the Ashley lovers.
I am very glad that they were trying to be fair to Emelie, the fans, and to the character - that they didn't bring her back just for the sake of bringing her back. You have to applaud them for that! So many show make up stupid storylines just to bring someone back.
Yes! As much as I loved Carson Beckett, I would have preferred that he stayed dead. There is the saying that "no one is ever really dead in Sci-Fi" which is the great thing about sci-fi, but when TPTB say that they like to kill of main characters once in a while to keep the suspense and seriousness of situations alive, but then end up bringing them back anyway - does that really make sense? I mean how many times did Daniel comes back from the dead? Though that is one thing about him that I love.
Carson Beckett and Elizabeth Weir. I never got around those "deaths". I think the Atlantis PTB seriously messed up on that.
Daniel was... different. I mean, he was never truly dead, right? Even the first time you knew he was around. On another plane of existence, yes, but he was there. Carson was a CLONE and Elizabeth a REPLICATOR. How more wrong can you get?
The only SG character who had an honorable death IMO is Janet. And thank you for that.
I didn't mind the Weir storyline until they had her come back into a different body. I think that Torri Higginson said she did not want to come back for the episode because she didn't like the way they kept leaving her storyline hanging. She wanted to give the audience some kind of closure.
Daniel was definitely a different story. He ascended :)
Janet...Yes. They did bring her back during a parallel universe episode, when multiple SG-1 teams kept coming through the gate. But that was a good way of bring back her character.

Indeed. Stargate Atlantis is the first that comes to my mind. (As much as I love the show, there are many things I would have done differently.)
