Spring has just commenced in the UK.
The mornings are just starting to enjoy the rays of sunlight by 8am.
Subject to change tonight as we change our clocks forward and are plunged back into grey mornings :-(
Still, I have this last few weeks, loved waking up.
My Matchbox is on the 1st Floor and looks out onto trees.
It's beautiful.
The sunlight filters through the leaves and the sounds of the birds is a chorus to encourage anyone into the day.
There's a woodpecker somewhere - I hear him / her frequently but so far it has escaped my sight.
I checked my emails this morning. Seventeen.
An each and every one of them from people in the States - friendly bunch!
My new business venture is being helped by a US Company and I decided to interact with the team in my usual relaxed manner and have so enjoyed the responses - emails about business decisions are now full of little comments about each persons life and area - like one chap being from Little Rock, Arkanas - home of former President, Bill Clinton (The one US president that always baffled me - couldn't figure if I liked him or despaired of him! No such hesitation for GW Bush!)
Adverts
Anyway, my question to ponder today - and one I've thought of (before anyone fears it's from my Buddhist Meditations and think Buddhism has completely flipped! :-) ) is how much are we influenced by adverts?
I usually note if I find one intellectually insulting (and there's many of them!) but which have influenced me positively - and am I aware of the influence at the time?
It took only a moments thoughts to realise that I purchased my cell phone (Sony Ericsson T610 and now T630) based on the advert - obviously with a little personal input when I checked it out for myself.
(Not to mention my kitchen gadget I bought a while back, as mentioned on previous journal :-) )
Anyone else influenced? Do my friends with kiddie-winks find themselves 'bullied' by their young 'uns who've been beaten over the head with adverts?
"Mummy, I want ...."
Anyway enough of my ramblings - have a client today who is going to try my skills.
Aspergers syndrome and an eating disorder to remedy - and I suspect already that that's only the half of it ...
Happy Holidays to all those enjoying Easter!
xxXxx
PS. A written prayer that J-' does well in her interview in Cambridge today. She's so very much in my thoughts.
