drabble: One Word

A/N: I found One Word the other day. It's a website that gives you one word a day and 60 seconds to write whatever comes to mind. I thought maybe I'd post what I have so far and maybe make it a weekly thing? We'll see. Possible spoilers for 5x22
1. Wealth
Dean never needed money… well, okay, he needed money but he didn't want money. What he wanted was his dad and his brother and the open road - everything else could take a backseat as long as he had his family.
2. Lack
Sam's always crying about the things they don't have. No roof over their head, not enough food to put on the table that doesn't exist and sometimes Dean just wants to shake him and remind him of the one thing they don‘t lack. Each other.
3. Crossed
Dean's known for a while that this is how it would end; with one dead and the other wishing he could be. And Sam knew too, he must have. That's why he offered himself, that's why he went willingly. That's why he made Dean promise.
4. Meaning
Dean doesn't know why he's here. Lying on this couch and listening to the (annoying) sounds coming from Ben's room as he plays on his Nintendo. He doesn't know why he's here, breathing, when Sam isn't. Sam made him promise but he didn't tell him why and now Dean is stuck. There's got to be a reason because Dean doesn't want to live like this without one.
