Yes, yes, it feels like forever since I've actually posted something... odd, the whole reason I actually pulled back a little was so I could start writing elsewhere, yet, I've nothing to show for the time.... well, almost.
I bagged out of work today, no serious reason, just not into it. It was funny, it felt like the office all got together and said it was sick at the same time, but spread it out so as not to cause suspicion, but forgot to tell me. Ah, well, that's what I used for an excuse anyway.
Speaking of work, I'm not sure if you've heard, but my company (the one I work for, not the one I own), Napster, was purchased by Best Buy yesterday. Big news for sure and hopefully the start of some good things for the little company that would. I constantly amazed at what the press gets away with when they think no one is looking, though. Some of the stuff that they said about the company is just not true, and it's not like we're a private company and people couldn't look it up themselves to check, we're public and the shit they're spreading is just so wrong you want to scream. Ah well, being bought by a big company is just as good as going private... you can go back to hiding in the rocks.
To return to my opening statements about writing, I was somewhat productive today in the form of 7 whole pages of a completely original screenplay. I'm actually giving the outline I wrote in my writing classes a shot at becoming real, so we'll see where it goes. I've been dancing around doing some other projects as screenplays, and still might, but I felt like it was time to air this one out a bit. (Honey, if you want to read it when you get home, it's on my laptop.)
In other fucked up news, I got stung or bit or whatever it is the fuck wasps do when you piss them off. I was out cleaning the pool with the intent of taking a dip and on the second time I bumped into a low hanging palm branch, I felt a sudden pain in my back. After crying "what the fuck?" a couple of times, I ran in the house and took my shirt off only to witness a welt rising on a part of my back that I can't reach. After trying to reach it with some balm, the pain subsided anyway. I walked back outside to finish the job, but decided to look at the palm branch again and found the next. A little paper wasp nest was hidden on the under side of the branch and me bumping into it a couple of times no doubt pissed them off. A couple of weeks back it was spiders, last week I actually found a dead squirrel in my back yard, and now wasps... what is this, Wild Kingdom?
Sadly, I have no patience for wasps, especially when they hurt me. So, I ran to the store and got some killer spray that wiped out the little bastards and any of them that even think about coming back later. Tomorrow, when I get home, I can take the nest down and toss it, or burn it in a little quiet ceremony if I like, I haven't decided. Little fuckers.
OK, I'm off to The Fratellies at the Wiltern. Oddly enough, I found out about the show from my step-mom who sent me a link to free tickets from Goldstar, who advertised the band as Scottish, which they are, but it's not like they play the pipes on stage. Anyway, going to take the train in and hope I don't gets stuck in K-Town since for some reason the trains end early at that station. Good week for concerts... Tokyo Police Club on Thursday, My Morning Jacket on Sunday, and The Racontours on next Tuesday.
