Goofy article from the NY Times... Basically, it's a really long piece on how high school girls feel a lot of pressure to not only do well in school so they can get into college, all the while not working too hard and having fun, but also... looking "hot".

I'm not questioning that they do... what I'm questioning is the lopsidedness of this article...

When I was in high school, I had a lot of pressure to do well (more so because for a long time, I had no shot at going to college, so high school would be it for me), but also enjoy life, etc etc.  The pressure to be hot?  Well, for one, I was horrible at it... but even then, there was still a certain pressure there to be not be a troll, but purely for social reasons... if you wanted to see any action, you couldn't just phone it in.

But like I said, I was pretty bad at that part... I was a late bloomer, or so I thought (I would discover at my high school reunion that I had several crushes, any of them I would have acted on had I any clue), and really shy around girls... but I was funny, and I played drums, so I got some attention, just not always what I wanted, I suppose.

My point, but the way, is that articles like this, are good examples of how sexists both sides can come across as sometimes.  The real effort of the feminist movement was equality, not superiority.  I think we would all be able to relax a little if we finally agreed that neither side can be good at everything and only by working together, as equals, we'll get through this mess.  No sex has the market cornered on genius, or stupidity... we're all equally goofy.
