My roommate stayed home part of the day yesterday so that the man from the cable company could by and fix our internet connection... but he didn't. I'm posting this now in a rare moment of connectivity, so please forgive if I'm not as speedy on the e-mail replies as usual.
The problem with most technicians is that they fixate on one thing, but don't ask the questions that would eliminate it from being a problem. In this case, he thought the issue was this harmless cable splitter that was being used to take the cable to the two tvs in the place and to the cable modem. Thing is, if he would have been smart enough to ask how long it had been in use (or my roommate was smart enough to tell him this fact), he would have known that it had been operating just fine for a good six months before this problem cropped up this week. In case you think I'm being too harsh here, just know that cable splitters aren't real electronics, they just split things, so they really can't go bad, outside of them getting run over by a truck, and I'm pretty sure my living room has been truck free for at least the last six months.
It's intermittent at best, so I'll probably do most of my e-mail work at work today... not that I'm completely devoid of that anyway, but it's usually just to confirm meeting times for evening plans... or to harass Rachel if she's not on IM...
Anyway, fresh back from my run, so I need to hit the showers and get on the road to work...
J.
