Ok, so, my birthday.
I saw my mom when she got home from work and she gave me a few little things. A bucket of popcorn, two movies ( GoF and The New World), the new issue of Cosmo and ballet slippers. Basically, stuff for a great night in.
The Boy took me out to dinner to this Italian place around the corner from my house. I wanted to go to a different one a few towns over, but they were closed, like a lot of places are on Mondays. But this place was really good. I just wanted some good food at a reasonable price, 'cause I didn't want him to spend too much money on me. I mean, he has it, but that doesn't matter.
Afterwards, we went back to his house because we wanted to watch House. I've basically got his whole family addicted to that show now. It's so great.
I talked to his mom for a little bit, I chatted with his sister while she was showing me her Halloween costume for school the next day (seniors get to dress up in their school), the norm. I heard him and his mom talking behind my back about something, but I just figured it was family stuff, so I tune out. Then I hear "No, Mom, after her presents." I turn around, and his sister tries to distract me while The Boy is giving me this little smile.
He takes me upstairs, so I could put my stuff down and he could give me his presents. I got: A yard stick of bubble gum balls (which was more for him, I think), a long-sleeve shirt of his to sleep in (because I had asked him for one, it's too cold to wear his t-shirt), this warm and fuzzy blue blanket for my bed (he remembered that I was telling him my room is freezing), and a HUGE terry-cloth Mets towel. It was awesome. Great birthday presents.
And his card was so sweet! He wrote "Happy 20th!! You are an amazing girl and I am so lucky to have you in my life. -Matt. PS, I can't wait to go away with you." How cute is that? See, part of my present was for him to take me anywhere in the states I wanted to see the Mets play an away game, on him.
So then we go down into his basement to put in the DVD. His mom calls us up for tea, and he runs up the stairs. I'm all like "What are we going up for? Tea? Since when do you want tea?" I was totally clueless.
I get upstairs and he has a goofy grin on, and his mother is pulling a cake out of the fridge! It was so sweet. The Boy went running around his house, getting his two brothers to come downstairs and sing to me. His youngest brother was already down there, and I was shouting up the stairs, "No,no singing! Nobody needs to sing! Leave your brother alone!" But that didn't work.
And they sang to me. And I got presents! A travel Scrabble for when we go away and The Phantom of the Opera DVD and book. It was great. I really like his family.
Apparently, his mother was freaking out that day. I had seen her while I was working that morning and I ran into the employee break room to grab something for her that my friend left. And we were talking and she goes, "Today is your birthday, right?" She was telling The Boy's sister how she didn't know I was coming back that night and she was totally unprepared and what should she get me? It was so cute. His sister suggested a DVD player, because mine is broken, but his mom goes "You guys work in a library. That means you like words, right? We'll go with Scrabble."
It was just really cute. Best birthday yet.
Except I don't think we're going to go away to see a Mets game.
'Cause I'm...
GOING TO EUROPE INSTEAD!!!!
In December with The Boy to meet up with his cousin. I don't have the money for the tickets right now, so he's fronting me the money for that. I had a talk with him that I don't want him to think I'm taking advantage of him or the fact that he has money, that I wouldn't care if he had none, because I'm not like that. So he goes, "Kerri, I want you to come, otherwise I wouldn't have asked you. I have no problem lending you the money for now, you can just pay me back later. We'll work something out."
I love him.
We're flying into Amsterdam and out of Paris. Paris!!
We're trying to figure everything out now. I have to talk to my professors and see if I can take my finals early. I dearly hope so. I'll just turn up the charm and wear a low-cut shirt. ;)
More details as they come!
