Blood Price/Ties

Two posts in one day?  No, I'm not going to finish before midnight.  Well, some of you know about this already.

Some time ago, Tanya Huff wrote a series about Victoria (Vicki) Nelson, previous cop suffering from retinitis pigmentosa.  She retired because she didn't want to patrol a desk and became a private investigator.  She had a relationship with a cop, Mike, who is still interested, but not particularly supportive of her new job.

She gets a client who thinks her boyfriend was offed by a vampire.

Right.

But - there are some odd facts.

Anyway - we get to meet vampires and demons and werewolves and all sorts of supernatural beasties (some in later stories, of course).

Vicki has attitude and I like supernatural beastie stories - both of these facts kept me with the Blood X stories, reissued as the Blood Books, vol I-III.

Lifetime is doing a TV series based on Vicki, titled Blood Ties.  The first was last week, title Bizarre Murder, an excellent adaptation of the first Blood book, Blood Price.  I'm told it will be available free on IPOD?  Haven't checked.  I TiVo'd it and watched it last night.

Vicki is very well done.  Mike is reasonable.  Seems young to me.  Well, I'm 69 and Vicki's other interest is about 500, so maybe we're biased.  The story was followed well.  We have another major, recurring character, whom I will not describe a lot.  He is very well done, and is the chappie who is 500, so I trust I don't have to say a lot more.

These things are running Sun night - next week's is titled Bad Juju.  Doesn't seem to be directly related to the books from the description, but there's only a few books and hopefully more episodes in the series.

For those of you who like this sort of thing, this is the sort of thing you like, done well, so far.
