Four separate violent attacks in Iraq killed 27 Iraqis and five US soldiers
Reuters is reporting that roadside bomb killed 14 Iraqis travelling by bus to Baghdad on Saturday. Twelve others were wounded according to medical officials. It's at least the fourth attack in Iraq on Saturday. Earlier, ten Iraqis were killed and about 30 were wounded when two rocket or mortar bombs hit a busy chicken market in a Shi'ite suburb in the city of Sadr. The Arab broadcaster El Jazira showed TV images of burnt out vehicles and said the attack followed violent encounters between militant Shi'ites and Iraqi police officers. In another attack, US military officials say six US soldiers were killed and several others were injured in a rocket attack by insurgents at a military base north of Baghdad. And in Tikrit, an apparent suicide car bomb killed at least three Iraqis. Witnesses said they believed the blast was targeting a convoy of Iraqi officials heading to the mayor's office in the city.
