so if none of you have ever read through your past entries, and like gone on a trip down livejournal memory lane (because you remember what was going on when you wrote whatever shit it was, then forgot about)....it's intense.

I just got back from a visiting artist's lecture...shes the head of metalsmithing and jewelry at UW-Milwaukee, which i guess has a great program. Im excited to hear about it bc they have all of these free workshops over the summer on saturdays and they range from making small things like silver spoons to learning how to make and contort chainmail. I dunno, i think it's all really interesting. Next semester I'm either taking enameling or this really intense casting class (both metlas classes), when I say intense, I mean like at least 20+ extra hrs ontop of class in the studio each wk. Depending on the week, i'm averaging about 12-15 right now. The projects are intense. But it's kind of like, you can make them more intense? Like it will be: make a ring and employ these 2 techniques...so you can go anywhere with it. The thing is I don't like or like to create ugly things, so i end up going overboard and getting a lower grade because the project is slightly too intense for my level. Anyways, our last project is a reliquary box...

so I think i want to make this chime, like a windchime....and it will employ a bunch of the processes we've already learned, like making long cylindrical, spherical closed forms, hanging at different lengths...and the central one will be a thin silver cylindar with a hinged top to put in some thought.....or prayer, for the cheesy or devout.

who knows, im up for ideas...
