2010 Reflections

Jan 04, 2011 22:53

1. What did you do in 2010 that you’d never done before?
Ride the Hogwarts ride at Harry Potter section in Universal Studios.  Cussed out a counselor at UMD, and raised hell in that office.  Made prints galore in my printmaking class, and started making sculptures out of slinkies.

2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

If I had them, I've no idea what they may have been; however, mine for this year are to write like the dickens, get my AA and start finishing my BFA.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

My sister's best friend did, and my cousin is newly pregnant.

4. Did anyone close to you die?

My friend Terry from high school -- his death was quite sudden.  Also my friend Jim's father, Bill, another sudden death.

5. What countries did you visit?

None in 2010, but Italy is on the horizon for this year.

6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?

A degree.

7. What dates from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

April 14th was the day Terry died.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

My prints in printmaking.  I did woodblocks, linocuts, and lithographs, and I was one of the very very few that started and printed my lithograph the very same day.  I spent 12 hour days (and longer) at school on those prints and it was worth it.  Also my painting of Wonder Woman, a commission for my cousin.

9. What was your biggest failure?

Apathy towards schooling and some friends.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

Not really, but now I have the flu.

11. What was the best thing you bought?

iPod touch (we think alike Sarah), new bed.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

My sculpture prof for being "disappointed" yet understanding.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

My sister's.

14. Where did most of your money go?

Rent, alcohol, frivolities.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

Finishing my prints, going to Florida, planning trip to Italy.

16. What song will always remind you of 2010?

I Sweat (Going Through the Motions) by Nona Hendryx because it was like my have fun and dance anthem for months.  Still is.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Happier.
b) thinner or fatter? a bit fatter
c) richer or poorer? richer

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?

Rested.

19. What do you wish you’d done less of?

Being apathetic.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?

Spent it with my cousins in the morning after my moms.  Then I went to my uncle's.

21. Did you fall in love in 2010?

Nope

22. How many one-night stands?

3

23. What was your favorite TV program?

Too many to pick from.

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?

Nope. No betrayals.

25. What was the best book you read?

The Help.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?

Janelle Monae.

27. What did you want and get?

An iPod touch.

28. What did you want and not get?

A new computer, but that's happening quite soon.

29. What was your favorite film of this year?

I was shocked by how much I enjoyed Skyline.  Harry Potter is up there, and there's not many others that I can think of right now, but I know I saw a lot.

30. What did you do on your birthday?

Went to a restaurant and boozed it up.

31. What is one thing that would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

Some more raucous but condom'd behavior. ;-D

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?

My personal fashion concept has been t-shirt and jeans for years, maybe I'll go back to that stage where I hated jeans and only wore cargo pants -- or not.

33. What kept you sane?

Friends and family.

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

Zoe Saldana (sic) and Dwayne Johnson.  I'd make babies with the both of them.

35. What political issue stirred you the most?

Which didn't?!  I'm such a politics junkie.  The mosque, the floundering of the Democrats, the blatant racism of the Tea Party and their ignorance, the shamefulness of the Republicans for allowing the Tea Party to become what it has, and the unboldness of Obama -- that about sums it up.

36. Who did you miss?

My friends from Semester at Sea who I've not seen in a while.

37. Who was the best new person you met?

Ellen in my printmaking class; Pablo in my painting class.

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010:

To stay connected.

39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:

Are you experienced?
Is what the man said.
Not with your body
Not with your head.
Wave your hands.
Move yourself.
You need to take
A five minute break.
And let your body shake!
