a story about pizza pie

Nov 26, 2018 15:03

Finally made it to Rabottini's pizza, the pop up restaurant in Allston/Brighton. I had no idea that previously they did pop ups at Bagelsaurus which is actually closer to me than Allston/Brighton. Oh well.

Anyway, Sister 2 and I shared:
MUSHROOM with Red Sauce, whole milk mozzarella, cremini mushrooms, roasted scallions, sharp provolone
FALL SPECIAL with Roasted local potatoes, poached red onions, sharp provolone, fresh herbs galore, whole milk mozzarella, pecorino, grana padano

No surprise, but Sister 2 preferred the mushroom pizza because it had red sauce. But the red sauce was too acidic for my liking so I preferred the potato pizza. Their potato pizza was much better than the potato pizza I've had in the past at Za.

Having said that, Commune Kitchen remains my favorite pizza.

Fernando convinced me to have pizza at Real Gusto in Medford recently because he felt it was on par with Commune Kitchen. It was good (all three places mentioned are good), but there's something about the CK crust that I like best. Also, their red sauce isn't has puckering as Rabottini's.

That reminds me, Papa Gino's in my hometown closed. Many of the shops of the New England chain closed earlier this month without notice. I hadn't been there in years but that was mostly because family members had sworn that the recipe had changed a couple of years ago. But I'll remember and missing being a kid whose mom took her there for a slice after school when I had a half day Wednesday.

... which makes me wonder whatever happened to Michael. Michael Carmichael? Crap maybe not. I might be confusing his last name with Quentin's. I might need to hunt down my year book. lol!

edit - I know think it's Michael something starting with the letter G. But I don't think he stayed in my school system which is why I can't remember his name.
