That was fun!

Nedmund and I went to see the Samurai exhibit at the MFA today.

It was a lot of fun. Somehow we spent over an hour peering at things in just three rooms. I had no idea that Nedmund had a samurai obsession. I can't believe that the whole thing is someone's private collection. I can't imagine growing up and being like "Yeah, mom and dad bought that a few years ago. Hey, let's go to the kitchen and get some ice cream."

The exhibit was busy, but not crazy busy. I'm really glad I took a day off from work to go see it.

We also went to look at the European Impressionists area, the Art of Japan, and peeked at the lower level of the Art of the Americas area.

I don't care for the way the Japanese art exhibit is done. The MFA has one of the largest collections in the world for Japanese art and it's mostly not on display. When I was in college, I spent a lot of time in the Japanese and Chinese art halls. There used to be half a room dedicated to katana displays. Now, there's just one. Since the area has been renovated, it's all in storage. It's annoying. And a couple of the small rooms that once displayed paintings are not in use. I don't understand why.

Anyway... Nedmund left at around 1:30p. I stayed another 30 minutes to visit the American Impressionists area (which was dead quiet - such a nice change from the free admission day I went to last time) and then did a quick re-run through the samurai exhibit to take a couple more pictures.

All in all, it was a great day. And now, it's raining again. At least, I'm listening to the new Civil Wars song. It's a bit more rock than Americana this time... still dreary though. lol! It's well-written and I love it already. However, there's not enough John Paul singing. It's mostly a Joy song. I hope the other songs will have their signature duet sound to them but maybe they won't since this album was written while the group relationship was rocky.
