Snowed In: Day 3

Jan 01, 2007 00:32

So the last few days have been crazy here in New Mexico. I woke up Friday morning to snow falling lightly. However, that light snow turned into a huge snowstorm. We got well over a foot of snow here. It's not getting above freezing so we still have snow. We can't really go anywhere because we're snowed into our driveway. The roads are icy all over the city. People are stuck and stranded on the interstates. Today, I thought we had hope because the sun came out, but something strange happened this afternoon. Fog. A lot of fog. It's bizarre. I can barely see across the street now. My birthday was Saturday, and what did I wake up to? The big tree/bush in front of our house fell on my car! I guess the snow was just too heavy for it and it split into several pieces. My dad went out and got the snow off of the tree and it sprung up off of my car. So far the car looks fine. The main thing is that the windshield isn't broken. We'll see about scratches and stuff. We took pictures for insurance purposes. So no huge birthday celebrations or New Years celebrations as we're all stuck in our houses. My dad did make a German Chocolate Cake for me though. I'm hoping tomorrow will warm up and melt some snow, but it's not looking too good. I am a little angry though because I can't go get my free birthday panty from Victoria's Secret because we can't get there. It expires today because it's valid during the month of my birthday. I wonder if they'll honor it here due to the strange circumstances.
Anyway, I'm bidding a fond farewell to 2006, in which a lot of things happened. Some of those things I will remember and some I will try my best to forget. However, I feel that with the things I've seen and experienced, I must be wiser and I am, for sure, humbler. I'm welcoming in 2007 with my family which is nice in its own right. We'll see what tomorrow will bring. I hope everyone has a great new year.
