buried treasure?

Something magical happened today. Despite having stayed home from work because he was feeling ill, Raph (mah boifrend of fairly recent vintage) came downtown to hang out with me for a bit this afternoon. We ended up deciding to go to Lola Rosa for coffee before the V-Day meeting I (thought I) had at six (uh, apparently I'm an idiot because it's actually at eight). Anyway, when we arrived the waitress offered us our choice of seats and Raph initially expressed interest in the round one by the window but the waitress preferred that we not take up a four-person table so we sat elsewhere. This was a good thing because ALL the tables EXCEPT the round one had little drawers in them. I didn't actually expect that they would be openable but I tested mine and not only did it open but inside there was a napkin with a message. It said (this is as close to the original as I could make it):

Oppertunities (sic) come only a few times in your
life,
Mysterious oppertunities (sic) come even less,
Don't miss out on this,
It could be the best thing to happen to you,
Or it could be the worset (sic),
But how can you live without risks?
Without oppertunities (sic)?
SO GO ---->

And on the other side there was a sketchy map with Lola Rosa ("L.R.") drawn in and a little dotted trail leading to a big X. The whole thing was labelled "(Treasure Map!)". Interestingly, as Raph pointed out, the map and the note do not seem to have been made by the same person. The pens used are different and the writing does not seem to be the same either.

Anyway, we tried our best to follow the map (which was ridiculously fun and totally felt like an adventure) but did not end up finding anything. The location that the map led us to was covered in snow and so we will try again when there has been a thaw. The whole thing was seriously amazing though. I'm really glad that I have a significant other who can appreciate the awesomeness of such things. If we had found something (anything at all) I would probably have screamed and peed my pants.
