And I got a lot of work to do, yay for finishing up housework that I have neglected this month :(.
On Friday
count_gregula and I went to eat at
Pepe's Mexican Restaurant on Harlem Ave. The food was tasty, I had the Steak Burrito Suizo which was a steak burrito covered in melted cheese with beans and rice on the side. Greg had the same thing except his burrito had chicken. We also had the fried ice cream for dessert *omg homer drool* which was a unique taste treat which I never had before. I would like to have one right now lol! After dinner we decided to hit up the
St. Pascal's Haunted House and we had so much fun! The haunt gets bigger and scarier every year and well worth the $7 bucks and the long wait in line, which really wasn't THAT long. Since it started pouring rain out that night we had to forget about going to the
Trails of Terror at Peterson Park. So we just decided to go on home to relax.
Saturday was a lot of fun! We went to Schaumburg to a home improvement show to see local horror host
Svengoolie and it was a blast to see him again! We hadn't had much of a chance to visit with him this year as we missed him at
Flashback Weekend. There was also a guy dressed up as Santa Claus who was a lot of fun to talk to, he was part of a vendor booth that hires out actors to play appropriate characters at parties, conventions etc. It was hilarious to see Santa interact with Svengoolie at his table and Greg even got into the pictures wearing his skeleton hoodie with the zip up face hood lol. Yeah I don't have pics up (as usual!) but if I'm not too lazy (or busy!) I will post them somewhere in the future, la la la. After the show was over we snuck into the ski and snowboarding show in the next room, which was OK but not really our thing. Oh well at least we didn't pay and nobody cared that we didn't :). Afterwards we went to eat at a local Panera Bread restaurant and we had a soup and sandwich meal which was very tasty! We decided to make the 45+ mile drive from Schaumburg to North Riverside to visit the
Freaky Frights on Forest attraction. It was a lot of fun, but a bit lower key than usual due to some bullshit from some assholes who live in the neighborhood complaining plus the town government got involved so there will probably not be another one next year :(. The reasons are listed on the main page of the website. It's a shame that something so good is not going to be a part of our lives again, and I only got to experience it in full one year! Damn.
Sunday was low-key, we slept in til ten then Greg went down to Roscoe St. to see the Halloween Parade with all the little ones in their cute costumes. I missed the actual parade due to not being ready on time but I still managed to get down there to see some of the kids dressed up. Went to eat with Mother G. and Rey at Golden Apple, but I had to rush off because of work. Yay work.
