I'm happy to announce that both Greg and I have gotten over being sick...yay! However, I have noticed that I have been coughing off and on again, bleargh. I think this one might be allergies rather than a cold, hay fever season coming up ya know. But boo @ me anyways for slacking on the LJ.
Last Thursday (3/27) we ended up NOT going out anywhere! It pissed me off too and set the tone for the rest of the weekend. Being upset and not feeling too good on Friday (3/28) led us both to try and cancel the hotel reservation in Indy that I had made earlier in the week, but nooooooo the Days Inn wasn't having it! So we decided just to go on ahead to Indy for the
Horrorhound Weekend con. We didn't arrive til around 9pm-ish Eastern time (boo for the time change!) so we decided to skip the Friday portion of the convention and go straight to the hotel to check in and then get something to eat. The hotel room turned out to be pretty nice, it was immaculate and had a nice TV and clock radio. Slept real good too in that nice king size bed :).
Woke up at 8:30 Saturday morning (3/29) which meant we almost missed the free "continental" breakfast in the hotel lobby because it ends at nine. Too damn early I say. Luckily they do keep cereal on hand as well as a fridge full of milk and juice so we were able to get something to eat without running to the CVS down the street. We actually got to the Marriott where the con was taking place half an hour before the doors opened and there was no line for tickets, yay! We also got in for half-price because our friends from
Legion's Den said that we can get vendor badges if we tell the ticket seller at the door we were with them. So we ended up getting our vendor badges and got to enter the dealer's room before the unwashed masses :). Had a fun time all day, went to the "Hellraiser" Q & A panel which was very entertaining, especially Doug Bradley (Pinhead) and some dude dressed up in a serial killer Santa costume who walked into the room late. Went to dinner with our friends Ryan and Michelle from Legion's Den, a couple of people from another group of vendors and our friend
Sofiya Smirnova who was sharing the table with Legion's Den. Sadly my sweet camera phone died right before dinner so I was a bit upset, especially since my phone had some cool videos AND a picture of my late Grandma Lois :(. We had the buffet at the hotel restaurant, the food was good but the service was sloooooow just like when we went back in November. Figured that they were overwhelmed what with three conventions taking place at the hotel but some of our group waited a half hour just to find someone to pay the bill and that was not acceptable.
After dinner we went to the official Horrorhound Weekend after-party, which we got in for no cost since we had vendor's badges. Sweeeeeeeeeeet. I've never been to a party catered by White Castle lol. There was also a veggie tray, I guess that was dinner for the vegetarian partiers hah. We also got served cake by Pinhead (Doug Bradley)! I wish I had the picture but the guy who took our pic with his camera hasn't emailed us back yet :(. Unfortunately the White Castle had taken its toll on me, and I had to go sit down alone as my stomach was feeling funky. I swear they make them different down in Indy cos I never got sick from WC up here in Chicago! There was also a costume contest and music provided by the Reggie Bannister Band. The party seemed to be officially over by midnite but folks were still partying in the hallway near the ballrooms and up by the bar. We decided to go back to our hotel and get some sleep as I needed rest for the long trip the next evening.
Sunday (3/30) I didn't feel like getting up at the ass-crack of dawn (8am) to get a crappy pastry at breakfast so I had Greg get ready first so he could get himself something to eat while I was in the shower. My boo brought me back a juice, bowl of raisin bran, a honey bun and a muffin mmmmmmm. I was glad to eat a lil something, thankee hon! We checked out of the Days Inn and went back to the Marriott where once again we got early entry (yay vendor badge!) to the dealer's room. Greg got to meet Danny Trejo and got his picture taken with him. We also met Ricou Browning (the actor who played the Creature in the underwater scenes) from "The Creature From The Black Lagoon", who signed Greg's Creature action figure :). I would have gone to meet more celebrities but they all decided to shoot rubber bands at each other for most of the afternoon, good times :). Poor Doug Bradley got snapped in the head with a rubber band by some kid, but he took it in stride. After a long day we went to eat with Ryan and Michelle at the Four Seasons restaurant (diner) and then we all went home.
