The Thanksgiving Aftermath (aka this past weekend)

Nov 27, 2007 04:00

Well as you all know, count_gregula and I survived yet another Thanksgiving. Got home before 10 pm from Mom's and managed to snag a parking space in front of the house...sweeeeeeeeet!!! Black Friday came and went without either of us setting foot in any retail establishments. To be honest I think people are crazy to get up at the ass-crack of dawn or earlier just to save a few bucks. I was tempted tho by the laptop at Best Buy for $299.00 but with my luck I would miss out :P. Ahem...to make a long story short, I have a policy of boycotting shopping on Black Friday. So instead we made plans to go to the Holiday Market at Pheasant Run. Yes, I know that is shopping but dammit it's NOT the same LOL! This show was quite a bit smaller than the other arts and crafts shows we have gone to this year, but there was still plenty to see and samples to munch. We bought some yummy Christmas Tree yogurt pretzels and mixed nuts from the South Bend Chocolate Company and I got some cinnamon Santa lip balm and Santa hand lotion from the Avon booth. Too bad I didn't have more money, I would have bought out her inventory ;). I am kicking myself for not getting the Sweet Honesty cologne set, love the way it smells...reminds me of Christmases long ago when my Grandma and Grandpa T. had gotten me a small snowman shaped bottle of this perfume. I think my mom still has it somewhere packed away :). But anyhooo we also got some meat sticks (woohoo!) from a Wisconsin summer sausage booth and they were yummy too along with the nachos we got from the snack bar...mmmmmmmmm. Like I said the show was small so we were done looking in less than two hours so we had some time to kill before we left so we explored the Pheasant Run Resort area, saw the gorgeous swimming pool and jacuzzi that is located in their Atrium, looked at some of the shops and other amenities and found out the location of the Zanies comedy club that is located within the resort. I think I have Greg talked into maybe doing an overnight stay there :D. Afterwards it was off to Steak N Shake for Holiday Milkshakes and other goodies :).

Saturday was more fun! We went to a toy train show in Schaumburg. Got to check out some cool model train set ups, wish we could do that as a hobby but something like that takes a lot of time, patience and money of which I have none :P. It was still fun to look at. We also seen how those cool ass landscapes are made for the train sets. I would love to do that it would be fun! Unfortunately we had forgotten the camera so no pics (boo!). We were originally gonna go to Chevy's Mexican Restaurant to eat but we saw a mob of people waiting in the vestibule so we got the hell out of there and went to our Pita Inn in Glenview instead.

Sunday and Monday were slow days, slept all day on Sunday and got some housework taken care of yesterday including doing a sinkful of dishes and taking out the garbage mmmm my favorite NOT!!!

Gotta get some sleep so talk to you all in the morning :).
