I'm at school right now, using a laptop provided to me for the day because this school marks their absentees online. I have a free period and seemingly unrestricted net access. I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing...
So far this term I've worked at three different schools: the Islamic school that I have written about before, a low-fee paying private school on the outskirts of Perth in what is (only just) a rural area, and the school I'm in right now- one of the most elite private boys schools in the city. I'm in the staff room, on the top floor of the tallest building. There are river views all around, two gigantic fancy coffee machines (wasted on me as I drink tea, but there are facilities for that too), an outdoor dining area on the balcony, HUGE wall-mounted tvs, long leather couches, comfy chairs at small tables... this place is amazing, is what I'm saying. And the students here are so well-behaved it's like a parallel universe. They line up outside the classroom without being told! They wait quietly for you to say "good morning"! They don't sit down until you tell them! They actually do their work!
Which is what I need to do soon too. I've got about ten minutes to go until the next period starts and then I'm teaching for the rest of the day. Meanwhile, I need to figure out where in this giant campus I'm going next... Good thing I have such a great view from up here. I should be able to figure it out without even going outside :D
