A F-List friend is passing this one around, thought I might do it since I am feeling geeky and not sleep enough this evening-- morning.
1. When did you start watching?
Late 1970's or no later than 1981. PBS in Miami put it one right around dinner time. (yes-- same station as the star-hustler worked!)
1a. Why?
Dunno, really. Interesting characters, lots of room in the universe to think of stories, and its sci-fi. When I was a ten, that's all I really needed, especially when star-trek was taken off of re-runs.
2. What was your first episode?
It was Pertwee and Baker in the early years but I can't recall
3. Which episodes have you seen?
Every 3rd, 4th, and 5th, and 9th, 10th.
3a. Favourite?
For Cheesiness, I have to say I have a fondness for giant hopping maggots. (hey Tosh-- remember?) For humor, I loved the paris episode of tom baker written by Douglas Adams. For sheer brilliance, I love some of the newer ones in the nuwhoniverse
4. Are your friends/family interested in the show?
None of family. Many old and new friends.
5. Which Doctor is your favourite?
Tough--- when I was a kid, I had a huge crush on Peter Davison. I have a fondness for PErtwee of course, the old dandy. But I think I really like the development of ten. Of course, ten is a doctor for us grownups :) and I'm a grownup now!
6. Which Doctor is your least favourite?
Well, I am very interested in the Seven/Ace series, but the music is SOOOO bad, I can 't watch it. I didn't see much colin baker either, but that was the John Nathan Turner years, and not too hot either, acting aside. Never saw the 1st or 2nd, but my worst woudl be that stupid, stupid movie. 8th was it? Good golly.
7. Which TV companion is your favourite?
There are so many good ones! Each for dif reasons. Jack is a popular recent one, Rose very well developed, and I loved Roses Mum as a psuedo-companion. very humurous. but all time fave, I liked Sarah Jane.
8. Which TV companion is your least favourite?
Nyssa, turlough, teegan all pretty annoying.
11. Have you read any of the novels or short stories?
Yup! Several.
Not since grade school. I shoulda kept them-- I bet they would be worth something now, that the show is back. I did keep two books-- Peter Davisons book of Alien Monsters, and the Dr Who Tour Guide to Britain.
11a. Have you written any of the novels or short stories?
I wrote fanfic in high school, long before I knew fan-fic existed. I also sent copies of all my stuff to the BBC monthly, I was a huge fan. Ask me about my story with a companion named Ace, who had a baseball bat and was a punk teenage girl. I hear I might have been on to something.......(hmmmmmmmm)
13. Do you watch any of the spinoffs (e.g. Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures)?
Yep.
13a. Which is your favourite?
Torchwood when they aren't too angsty.
I'd also like to see more doctor-light episodes, maybe done as a twilight zone like series in the whoniverse.
Fandom
1. Do you write fanfic for Doctor Who?
Not since high school.
1a. If so, post a snippet of a work-in-progress (or several)!
After a couple of decades, I can't read my pencil anymore, and the typewritten versions all got sent to BBC. Not clever thinking for archival purposes, but hey, I was a kid.
That;s all I'm doing, because Im not hugely active in the community these days, but I enjoy it when I get too, and its pretty lateearly.
