help with restaurants

I have some American friends coming on holiday to town in roughly a month's time and they are in search of recommendations for good restaurants located in central London. They like good food and good wine and have eclectic tastes, the only major cuisine they don't like is Thai (one of them is allergic to some of the major ingredients).

Any suggestions will be gratefully received.
