Author's Notes: I would like C and P for being my betas at the last moments. I had so much fun doing his fic.
I know I should not be doing this. I keep telling myself this can only end in ruin, but that is not enough to make me stay away. I wish I would have had said no to that one night last year. I should have thought more about Tonks than Severus, but at the time I thought he loved me. Love makes a fool of all of us.
Even after he killed Albus I couldn’t stop seeing him. I wanted to hate him but I just couldn’t. So, I took Tonks on her offer and we married. I didn’t even love her but I needed a cover fast.
At night, when the clock strikes ten, I floo to his office, the one that used to be Albus’. I can see Albus’ portrait each time, and each time he has a smile on his face as if he knows what I am doing and approves of it. How can he approve of me, a member of the Order of the Phoenix, bedding the man that killed him?
I could kill Severus in the middle of the night, but I won’t, I can’t bear for him to not be there. He never even takes my wand away; I can even set it on the bedside table and he does not bat an eye. What the hell am I doing? Why can I not stop myself?

Remus arrived right on time. The clock had just struck ten. The children were all in their common rooms, safe for another night. But the night had just begun for Remus. He walked through the office, Albus Dumbledore’s portrait smiled down on him, turning Remus’ insides into a knot. He quickly went into the sitting room of Severus’ quarters.
There on the black sofa sat the murderer. Remus’ mind wanted to grab his wand and kill the man where he sat but Remus heart could not let him. How many times had he thought of that and then not done it?
“Good evening, Lupin.” That was how it always started out. A simple good evening and glass of port to get them both relaxed. As the night progressed he would find himself in Severus’ bed, in Severus’ arms. The need growing inside him, the need to have his lover close to him once more. To forget all else and just live for this moment.
As their climax would start, Remus would hold on to Severus, calling out his name. Feeling like he was on top of the world. The haze of the beautiful, passionate sex would then fade, bringing Remus back to reality, back to where he knew this was wrong. Lying in bed with Severus, Remus would try to forget the feeling but it would well up inside until he felt like he would burst if he did not get up. He would dress and leave, going back to that nice home with his sweet wife who loved him unconditionally.

October 1996
“What?” Remus looked like a fish trying to get water. A baby? It couldn’t be; Tonks had been taking a potion so they couldn’t. He was not ready to be a father. Even in his late thirties, he still felt too young to have a child.
“Yes, isn’t it wonderful?” She smiled, so happy. He could not bear to break the news that he didn’t want it at all. He swallowed and tried smiling.
“Yes, Tonks.”
Later that night he went to Severus. After their usual round of sex, he stayed a bit longer, desperately needing someone to talk but not sure who to talk to. He could not talk with the Weaselys or Harry, not even Kingsley could keep this from Tonks. So he turned to the only person that Tonks had no contact with, Severus Snape.
“Sounds like you should be happy. You get to pass your genes on and have a child to carry on your legacy.” Severus said, from his place on the bed, a cigarette in-between his fingers.
“That is the point, passing my genes on to my child. He could become a werewolf.” Remus frowned.
“You do know that that statement has yet to be proven?” Severus replayed, talking about the werewolf genes.
“With my luck it will be my child that it happens to.” Remus reached for his wand and put it in his pocket.
“Just think of it this way, Lupin.” Severus took a puff and let it out. “You will have someone else to call you Moony.”
Remus flooed back from his rendezvous with Severus, feeling just as bad as he had before he left. He just couldn’t be a father.

November 1996
Remus lay out under the moon. Not even changing forms could get him out of his stupor. He had tried to go with Harry on the adventure that the trio was starting out on, but after Harry more or less called him a dead beat dad, he knew he could not leave Tonks and the baby. He had to stay with them. That was the right thing to do. But that didn’t mean he had to stop seeing Severus. Severus was the man that he truly loved.
He got up from his spot on the grass. The seasons were starting to change and it seemed like Remus might be too.

January 1997
The air was filled with moans and cries of ecstasy as Remus rode Severus.
“Oh God! I’m coming!” Remus yelled as he came all over Severus stomach and chest. He heard a grunt as Severus came inside him. As the tremors of his orgasm started to subside, Remus rolled over to the side panting and trying to catch his breath while Severus got out a cigarette and lit it up.
“You really should be faithful to your wife.” Remus frowned and looked over at him.
“Please Severus not now.” He muttered a cleaning spell and got up from the bed. Severus didn’t press more at the moment, content with smoking. But the damage had been done. He flooed to the leaky cauldron and then walked to a nearby park. He walked around a park a few times. No one had heard from Harry in ages and the wizarding world was getting worse. Thankfully Tonks had been put on a leave of absence as she was getting far along in her pregnancy.
Remus smiled to himself. He remembered the scan of his child the other day when he went to the healers with Tonks. It made him happy to know that he would have a son, but really as long as it was healthy he was happy. They had yet to settle on a name, but he was not due for two more months. Remus took a deep breath. Severus was right he should be more faithful to Tonks.

April 1997
“You cannot come anymore.” Remus blinked as he heard those very words.
“And why not? You are not concerned for my safety, are you?” It was late April, just a week after his son had been born, making Remus happier than he ever thought he could be have ever been, and fortunately Teddy - named after Tonk’s father - had gotten Tonk’s metamorphmagus’ power and nothing of his lycanthropy traits, but even the birth of his son had not stopped Remus from visiting Severus.
“I suspect that soon there will be a battle.” Severus moved over to the window. “It is better if you stop right now and go back to your family.” Severus said, his back to Remus. Remus felt like he had been struck in the stomach by a giant. He stood in the middle of the room, not sure what to say.
“So this is the end?” Please let it not be. Remus thought. Remus should have been happy; happy that it was being ended. But all he could feel was a deep seated pain in his chest. “Very well,” Remus said, in a clipped voice and his heart broken. “If that is what you want.” Severus was silent, looking out the tower window as if Remus was not even there. Remus swallowed his pride and left.

Severus waited for Remus to leave before he sagged against the window.
“You should have told him the real reason, Severus.” Severus looked up to see Albus, who he thought had been sleep, talking to him.
“And say what, Albus? That I love him? I have never been very good at talking about my emotions.” Severus moved away from the cabinet.
“I know. You made the same mistake years ago with young Lily Evans.” Severus flinched at the name.
“I do not wish to talk anymore!” Severus yelled to the room.
“Very well, Severus.” Albus’ portrait self moved out of the frame, leaving Severus all alone.

Remus whipped his head, as he heard a scream, just in time to see Tonks crumple to the floor. Why couldn’t Tonks stay at home where she would be safe? Just as he started to go her he felt a searing pain shoot through his body. As he fell to the floor the last thought in his mind was that of his baby boy. He would never get to see his son grow up.
Remus hit the ground with a thud; he stopped breathing and his eyes closed.
