You know the thing that sucks about liking crochet better than knitting? The patterns are designed for and by particularly uncool 50-year-old women.
Even
Stich 'n Bitch Crochet: The Happy Hooker was disappointing. Yes my cousin liked the ear flap cap I made her baby, and I wish I could make the monkey baby blanket, but the rest of them? The adult hats were pretty much the same pattern. The technical difficulties blanket? Simplistic. The bags were kind of cute but nothing incredible. The clothes seemed geared for the anorexic set. The SnB knitting books really did have "hip" patterns, so why couldn't the crochet book? Because twenty people under the age of fifty crochet.
Blah. I wish I was better and had more time so I could design my own patterns, but I don't know anything about creating what looks good. I can just look at something and know it's not going to look good on me.
This really kind of sucks. Really, really wish I could make my own clothing. Or at least a wrap and a sweater that don't look like shit.
ETA: For some reason, I'm kind of smitten by
this vest. Maybe it's because I was watching The Drug Years when I found it. I want to make it, I really do. Would I want to wear it is the question.
Also, there's a pluming emergency at my dorm, please limit water usage.
I don't like the sounds of this.
