When moving into a small apartment, the tape measure becomes your life. The past three days have been non-stop measuring, moving, measuring and moving again. It's not that the place doesn't have room for us, it's just that it's kind of fragmented, like the West Bank or the remaining chimpanzee habitat. We have to make the most of every square foot. The first thing we did was buy a giant inflatable hedgehog.
I'm still in the middle of packing up my old house and I've found a lot more stuff that I need to give away. I've got a stack of 40 or 50 cassettes from the 80s and very early 90s that I don't need anymore since I've upgraded them to CD, so if anyone wants them, they are free for the asking. The catch is that you have to take all of them and you have to either pick them up from me or pay the postage. It's mostly good stuff - XTC, Elvis Costello, Billy Bragg, Robyn Hitchcock, Joe Jackson, etc.
Haven't decided what to do about the Star Wars memorabilia.
And today I cleaned out 5 bureau drawers full of home demos that go back to my high school days. There are probably over 100 tapes, and that's not counting the 1/4" reels and 4-track masters that I put in storage. Out of all that, only 10 songs have ever really seen the light of day. I'll have to sit down and listen to all 100+ hours sometime, but not now.
