Womble Up De Rubbish

Almost 1 month in and the new budget is going surprisingly well. Not paying $100 a month for cable and internet (which is the going rate in RWC, not even including premium channels) is the smartest thing we ever did. We discovered free wireless from an anonymous neighbor's un-password protected account, which seems legal enough, and it's faster than the old Google service. The only cable show I really miss is Olbermann which I can now watch for free on the computer using the neighbor's wireless. So there you go, an extra $1200 per year freed up for mortgage payments.

Some other money saving measures I'm trying to institute:

*Plug drain in shower and use leftover water for plants.
*Wear pants 4 times instead of 2 between washings.
*Charge all small appliances (cell phone, camera, batteries) at work.
*Go to Whole Foods every day for "free sample lunch" and use all of their testers.
*Practice with acoustic instruments only.

I biked home from work yesterday for the first time since moving to RWC, using this route. Holy flying Bejeezus, I have never in my life seen so many giant mansions. I've always considered those neighborhoods off-limits to a person of my stature but apparently they're open for biking and it's an easy ride because car traffic is so severely regulated.
