In advance of my annual tedious lists post, here are my 10 highlights of 2007 with photos included where appropriate.
#1. Karla's new job at the
Palo Alto Weekly. I think it's fantastic that she found a job she likes at a worthy journalistic organization, not to mention the fact that she works with Allen Clapp of the Orange Peels. The bonus for me is that I get to have lunch with her every day and we can take the same train home.
#2. The breakthrough of
The Corner Laughers. We played 15+ shows, had reviews in the Palo Alto Daily News, Mountain View Voice and San Francisco Chronicle, appeared at the Los Angeles IPO, played on TV, made a whole batch of demos for the new album and generally got a lot better, especially after Charlie joined.
#3. Adding the
California Condor to my life list. I've wanted to see a free flying California Condor ever since I was 10 years old. I've tried a few times since moving to California with no success. In April we found out about a Condor release event at Pinnacles which seemed like a sure thing. The Condor that was supposed to be released refused to participate, but we saw several others who presumably flew in for the event.
#4. My mom's
60th birthday party.
#5. Meeting
stacyinthecity in
real life.
6. The return of
Rhoades.
7.
Prius! 8. Playing a public gig with
John Wesley Harding.
9. Vulture Festival and
Giant Sequoia National Monument.
10. Visiting the
Kellogg Bird Sanctuary for the first time in years.
